On the 5th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me..... ummm.... my rhyming button is broken. He gave me some good stuff.... As promised, today’s gift-worthy double feature highlights two amazing LOCALLY-MADE (and by local, I mean CT) products!
First up, Wild Moon 100 ml variety gift pack. If you have yet to try Wild Moon Liqueurs, lemme just tell you..... you’re over due! These ORGANIC, botanical-based liqueurs were created quite literally, in the kitchen of Hartford residents, Lelaneia and Tom, owners of Hartford Flavor Co. Burdened by the inability to drink many big-name liqueur brands because of the additives and chemicals, Lelaneia set out to craft her own organic, GMO-free, additive-free, chemical-free, everything-not-natural-free line of liqueurs.
Wild Moon has long been a favorite of ours as they lend themselves to both modern day mixology and cocktail culture yet can be consumed in something as simple as a champagne cocktail (my personal fav). This gift pack over-delivers with SIX different Wild Moon Liqueur options: Cucumber, Rose, Lavender, Cranberry, Birch and Chai Spice. It’s the perfect gift for someone on the cutting edge of the cocktail scene or someone who loves to cook with unique ingredients or even someone just entering the spirit side and needs some inspiration..... I mean, I think that covers everyone..... no? It doesn’t hurt that those bottles are quite literally the cutest thing since puppies. Am I right or am I right?
Okay, next up: Soundview Brewing Winter Rules Double IPA. The art on this can gets me right at the go but the first sip made me a “brew-iever”...... (ya know, if you combine believer and brewing you get, brewiever”. Okay, it’s just not as funny when I have to explain it)
Anyway, this local brew originates in Old Lyme, CT, just one town over from our home-base. In a sea of craft brews, most of them being IPA’s, it’s tough to know what’s good and what’s not. I’ll be the first to admit 💁♀️, I judge a beer by its can. In many instances, the can hasn’t matched the liquid (if ya know what I’m sayin’) but in this case, in exceeds it. Not only is this a beautiful package but the liquid inside stands up to
I am excited to share news about further enhancements coming to our community’s infrastructure ultimately designed to improve our quality of life and overall safety. My office has been actively working with the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to begin to restore the underpass located on Rosedale Avenue & Bruckner Blvd. // This particular space is one of two major connectors that bring together parts of the district divided by the Bruckner Expressway.
The scope of work being executed by NYSDOT include: the excavation of soil, installation of decorative gravel, cleaning of surrounding fences and sidewalks. The extent of work also includes: increased lighting and the installation of solid planking above the sidewalks, which will help keep our walking space free of bird waste. While weather and other factors could impact the timeline, completion of this work is expected to be reached before early 2019. // Furthermore, a second phase of this effort will involve bringing together residents, community based organizations and other partners to envision and transform this space into a artistic, vibrant and welcoming structure that represents the environment our community deserves. // For questions about this project or other community related information please contact the office of Assemblyman Marcos A. Part 1. The Bronx is undergoing many renovations. Will those who have been here for generations be able to stay? Are those infrastructure upgrades for us? Are they for our senior citizens living on $733.00 in SSI and $194 in food stamps? Are these fixes for those coming in and spending $1,600 on a studio because they were displaced from Manhattan?
Improvements I am all for. Getting rid of my community is what I have a problem with. Please share and/ comment. #siervodelacomunidad#bronx#Soundview#huntspoint#fordham#melrose
