Power of Proximity. @zsolevai from Budapest won the second prize, and is now one of the three #fashionsfusionwinners . Can you guess what her project is about? Swipe to find out.
Zsofi wants to help people spend more time offline, while still having the experience they know from being online. Her new collection can be described as Tinder integrated into fashion. When people wearing her collection are together in a room, move around and engage with each other, the clothes show how much the wearers have in common. It’s a match! When you read the word "bond" on your sweater. The collection works with data from Instagram.
There’s always time for a nap, even during an Award Ceremony. Just kidding. Swipe to see Nele Köstler from team @radicesleep wearing SORA, the sleeping mask she developed together with Jonas Diezun. They are one of the #fashionfusionwinners .
Third prize was won by Nele and Jonas from Munich. Their idea is based on the desire to help people have restful sleep. While many apps help users to structure and shape their everyday lives (and work) better and more efficiently, they have designed an innovative sleeping mask to help their customers get a fresh, active start to the day.
SORA tracks brain activity, eye Movement, heartrate, temperature, and movement. The benefits of tracking are: SORA measures the quality of sleep, it helps you fall asleep and wake up in time, and it improves deep sleep.

During #FashionWeek in Berlin, we also had the chance to see old friends again on stage. The Music Suit, which was developed in the very first #FashionFusion challenge, was part of fashion designer @anjagockel’s show at Adlon Hotel.
The #MusicSuit embeds a sensor network and a central, wireless controller to turn a performance into dynamically evolving music. Position and rotation sensors are located on arms and legs, while proximity sensors are on the torso. The sensors communicate over a 4-wire UART with a central hub controller located in the back of the suit. The controller combines all sensor values and transmits them wirelessly to a computer running MusicSuit drivers and a music software, adapting the output in real time to the wearer’s performance. Smaller movements are mapped to parameters changing the sound of instruments and effects in the song. A singer can use parameter changing movements to manipulate their voice in realtime. Special gestures change „scenes“ in the song, changing from verse to chorus, bridges etc., and manipulating time.

Inbar Carmel (@inbar_carmel) 💁🏻from Israel. She is really excited about tomorrow 🙌🏻. She is part of Team @infime_underwear. The aim of Infimé is to make the art of trying on garments virtually a routine part of online shopping. The use of 3D technologies is particularly useful for trying on underclothing or swimwear, and can help reduce return rates. The consumer clicks on the “Try-it-on” button, enters his or her measurements, and receives a 3D representation of him or herself wearing the chosen garment.
„As the founder of Fashion Fusion I’m really proud and happy how this program is moving forward with an impactful and strong ecosystem. It’s our big pleasure and ambition to support and coach the winner teams and to bring their prototypes to market readiness“, says @antjehundhausen, VP Brand Experience, Deutsche Telekom AG.
The three winners are going to be announced this Tuesday during the Fashion Week in Berlin. Please meet the eight teams in this video.

This is Team Smart Orthosis. Back pain, due to bad posture while sitting (and spending too much time in a seated position), too little exercise, and underdeveloped muscles, is a very widespread problem. Smart Orthosis is designed to help correct unhealthy body habits by using electrical impulses to improve posture. Worn as a smart top, the garment has warm patches and vibration elements embedded in it to help ease acute back pain. The garment can be connected to the wearer’s smartphone via Bluetooth, so the he or she can adjust and control its functioning via an app. As the Smart Orthosis takes the form of a tight-fitting top, it can be worn almost invisibly under everyday clothing.

It’s showtime for Cynthia and Chiara from Team @networknerves. The Network Nerves project is aimed at performers (artistes, singers, or dancers, for example) looking for new ways of expressing themselves on stage and interested in using the latest technology and smart textiles to create those spectacular Wow! experiences for their audiences. At the moment the team is developing a very particular model: a bodysuit over whose surface are distributed a number of small, flexible tubes filled with fluorescent substances that can be pumped around the body or drawn back in, in a similar way to the pulse of the carrier, using a pump integrated into the suit.

This is the prototype of the Vibrace by @yannikwendt, one of our #fashionfusionfinalists .
Vibrace is designed to help (especially blind and sight-impaired) people to find their way in previously unexplored locations and in unfamiliar environments. The bracelet gives vibration signals on the wrist of the wearer, guiding him or her by means of varying vibration patterns to go straight, turn right, or bear to the left, etc. The device is connected to the wearer’s smartphone by Bluetooth and makes a new mode of orientation possible, one that does not impede or interfere with the other senses.

I found it really interesting to see how @keypod @sharongreenberg teamed up with Marc Gray he taught the participants how to communicate and present their idea. It seemed to me like a kind of acting training there is so much to know about how to communicate the right way with regard to the body language, the voice... Each team @telekomfashionfusion preparationdays got to know different ways how improve their idea and presentation.

@materialfutures graduate Lindsay Hanson imagines how advances in graphene and photonic crystal technology could lead to the creation of a new type of material that can change colour, pattern and design by the command of the user. 🦋
These colour changing yarns and textiles could help reduce the sheer volume of garments each of us own.
