Now there she goes again, the dopest Ethiopian
And now the world around me begins moving in slow motion when-
Ever she happens to walk by - why does the apple of my eye
Overlook and disregard my feelings no matter how much I try?
Wait, no, I did not really pursue my little princess with persistence
And I was so low-key that she was unaware of my existence
From a distance I desired her, secretly admired her
Wired her a letter to get her, and it went
My dear, my dear, my dear, you do not know me but I know you very well
Now let me tell you about the feelings I have for you
When I try or make some sort of attempt, I symp
Damn I wish I wasn't such a wimp
Cause then I would let you know that I love you so
And if I was your man then I would be true
The only lying I would do is in the bed with you
Then I signed sincerely, the one who loves you dearly, PS Love Me Tender
The letter came back three days later: Return to Sender, damn
You kind of knew already that this album was going to be on here so here it is. Pharcyde's 1992 debut LP: Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde. This album is in my opinion almost perfect. Produced primarily by J Swift the albums lyrical content has so much playfulness in it without it sounding corny. Fatlip, Imani, Slim Kid 3 and Booty Brown all do an amazing job at keeping the album's jazzy playfulness in tact without having it sound like a joke. With songs like Ya Mama and Oh Shit to tracks like Passing Me By and Officer the subjects covered on this album are massive. I think The Pharcyde do an incredible job of remembering that this music is supposed to be fun whilst maintaining the importance of social context. The difference between vocal tones of the emcees is also something that largely stood out for me when I first heard of them. Similar to what I said previously said about Danny Brown, the Pharcyde take something different sounding and use it to their advantage all too well. Also the album cover art is outrageously great!
Favorite tracks: Passing Me By, Otha Fish, Ya Mama, Oh Shit, Officer

The Pharcyde (pronounced "far side") is an American alternative hip hop group, formed in 1989, from South Central Los Angeles. The original four members of the group are Imani, Slimkid3, Bootie Brown, and Fatlip. DJ Mark Luv was the group's first DJ, followed by producer J-Swift and then J Dilla. The group is perhaps best known for the hit singles "Drop", "Passin' Me By" and "Runnin'", as well as their first album, Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde (1992). In 1995, The Pharcyde released their second album, Labcabincalifornia. It featured production from producer Jay Dee (who handled the majority of the production). Member Slimkid3 has stated that the group met Jay Dee (J Dilla) by way of Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, who handed them the tape that contained some of the production that would end up on the LP. The music video for the song "Drop" was directed by Spike Jonze. The album included another big crossover hit, "Runnin'", peaking at No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100. This single was later featured in the movie 8 Mile. @thepharcyde @slimkid3 @negrokanevil @officialjdilla
