I'm so grateful for having had the opportunity to practice Ashtanga this week with Dena Kingsberg, the world's most senior female Ashtanga teacher. I'm still reeling from the experience, and absorbing *all of it*. For a whole week we soaked up Dena's wisdom, insight and love for the practice. I'm still thinking about her first question -"why do we practice yoga?" Something I ask myself on a daily basis as I roll out my mat. We all come to yoga for different reasons, but most likely we stay with the practice for one common reason = FREEDOM = in the sense that over time and with dedicated effort, we can strip away the layers of our being. We can shed the unnecessary shackles and beliefs, our bondages, and break free from the repetitive cycles we build into our psyches. If we stop for long enough to listen quietly we may hear a different story. Stripped back, naked to the core we get to know our real selves, completely and without judgement or apology.
I have put many of Dena's teachings "in my pocket" (Dena's words!) and will return to them again and again. Thank you Dena for teaching us and and Karen and everyone at Meadowlark for making it all possible. It was an amazing week!
Thanks too to my ever patient family for doing ALL the things while I was away, and holding the fort. 😍
In the Aristotelian ethics (see, for example, Book IV of Nicomachean Ethics), frônese (from ancient Greek: φρόνησις, translit. Phronesis) is distinguished from other words with which wisdom is designated as the virtue of thought practically translated as practical wisdom.
A ação e o exemplo transformam. 💥👣

Ação efetiva é colocar energia e realizar algo em prol de uma conquista ainda maior. Aprenda a transformar sonhos em realidade - suas ações impactam em seus resultados, sim!
It hurts less to feel repressed than to admit to being limited.
When oppressed, it is the fault of the other;
When limited liability is yours.
Dói menos sentir-se reprimido do que reconhecer-se limitado.
Quando oprimido, a culpa é do outro;
Quando limitado a responsabilidade é sua.
International Yoga Day thoughts:
Yoga takes you into the present moment, the only place where life exists. I may not have mastered many yoga asanas yet, but I am diligent, practice almost daily, and always like to practice on my own. I keep trying to do difficult poses on my own, so that it may give me moral strength and reliability, and faith in my own mental processes and physical agility. For me, it is the time and attempt to really connect with myself and become and stay rooted. It's neither a physical or religious exercise as far as I'm concerned, but a spiritual experience. So If I don't attend group classes, or have yoga teachers whom I follow, it's because to me it is a form of meditation and only you can teach yourself how to do it right and best to attain enlightenment. 😃 I'm a self learner that way and a very conscientious one at that...as a child, I even taught myself to cycle, not allowing anyone to run after my cycle to enable me to balance and to learn the basics of swimming, and therein lies my mental strength, self dependence and independence. Thus now, I cannot be expected to be a writer - who can be persuaded, or dissuaded to say but what it is I feel compelled to say. I don't seek external validation and approval on my life and choices: "Yoga is the settling of the mind into silence. When the mind has settled, we are established in our essential nature, which is unbounded Consciousness. Our essential nature is usually overshadowed by the activity of the mind." -- Patanjali.
"Yoga is an internal practice. The rest is just a circus." -- Shri Patabhi Jois.
"Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self" - The Bhagvad Gita.

Almost anybody can learn to think or believe or know, but not a single human being can be taught to feel … the moment you feel, you're nobody but yourself.
To be nobody but yourself, in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else, means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.
— E. E. Cummings
