Crab Meat Salad
I've never met a crab I did not like. Grilled crab, fried crab, curry crab, salad crab, blue crab, black crab, ocean crab, river crab, this tribe of eight legged beings have always made the sea food lover in me happy (yes, even the river ones). It's the sweetness of the meat, the texture, it's ability to absorb flavours and impart it's own, makes it my favorite seafood. Of course different type of crabs do taste different, but when you eat a crab no matter where it is from or how it's cooked, you know it is a crab!
I know some silly people who won't try it simply because the process of getting the meat out is cumbersome and messy but I also know people who actually enjoy breaking, gnawing and pulling their way through even tiny crabs simply because crab meat is awesomeness. And then there are people who will happily gobble up all the yummy crab meat that you have so painstakingly pulled out, waiting eagerly for the next bit as you struggle with the claws. I must admit, there is joy in doing that for the ones you love!
I had this crab meat salad at a restaurant in Santorini, Greece. It was beyond delicious! Back home I've had crab meat in soups and fried rice. This was definitely different. The salad leaves and veggies were served on the side and the crab meat portion was mixed with some aromatic herbs, so basic yet so yummy.
I saw crab salad on many menus in Santorini but this is the only one I tried because I had just 3 days and so much variety of seafood to try!
