Baby girl and I just finished week 14 shoulders and abs. I get asked a lot if #pwr can be modified for home workouts. While it’s not ideal, it can be done! If I know I’m not getting to the gym one day that week—I’ll plan ahead. Normally, chest and tris or shoulder/abs is the easiest to do at home!
Are you being a rebel and doing PWR at home? Don’t worry I won’t tell Kelsey. 😉
Also, loving how excited everyone is getting about the #sweat12wc — our #pwrcommunity is growing!!
Thank you for being a member of my community. For being one of my people. 2018 was an incredible year for me, and I’m ending it with peace in my heart, confidence in who I am, and excitement about the possibilities for 2019 and beyond. I’ve done the work to get here, and I couldn’t have done it without you being part of my life. Thank you!
Today’s #wcw is this fantastic group of women (including those who could only join us in spirit.) It’s an honor to be part of a group dedicated to setting and chasing goals, while lifting each other up. I walked away from this weekend feeling utterly inspired, and I am better for knowing each and everyone of you. Cheers until next time! #HFdoesSC#runningfriendsarethebestfriends#kiawahislandmarathon2018
If Your Not Smiling, You Should Be. Because You Got This

Finalized my race schedule for 2019 as a member of the Runners Roost race team! Yes I’m an engineer and I put everything in Excel tables. Skeptical about putting this out there because I did the same thing last year and I suffered my hip injury on January 2nd 😬😬😬. Anyway I’ve had a lot of time to think about this as when I had hip surgery back in March, my immediate focus was on rehabbing and getting back in shape for 2019. Looking at 3 “A” races and 5 “B” races. I might run some “C” races for fun or if a pacing opportunity comes up, but we’ll see. My mentality for 2019 is to make sure I give myself enough time to recover from each race and to listen to my body and not push through any pain. If I’m not ready to race, I won’t. Best case scenario: I run 8 PRs next year, but staying injury free and finishing with 8 strong times would be fine with me for sure!
Just another day being a mom! Someone’s feet, face, fingers, butt, etc are always in your face. There’s guaranteed that someone else’s snot is on your pant legs or shoulder. The food you made “is gross” (even though it was ate yesterday), and coffee is your current BFF. Up and out early for a run because even though you only got 5 hours of sleep, it’s the only time you have to yourself. That’s my Wednesday! I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I’ve also learned that there’s a large amount of grace that helps. Grace for your kids when they’re trying to help, but make a mess. Grace when your husband is sound asleep for the 3rd wake-up-our-toddler-back-in-bed for the night. Grace when you’re tired and you just don’t feel like adulting. With grace comes an understanding and a little freedom. You don’t have to have the answers, just the patience. Be patient, be kind, and be gracious. To all around you, and yourself. 💕 I did run today. It wasn’t pretty as my legs were a little heavy. I was blowing snot-rockets and probably looked tipsy weaving all over the side walk avoiding ice patches 🙃 Life IS messy! As a mom, each day is unpredictable. If you expect to just be surprised each day, you’ll never be disappointed. Give some grace, and that will help you keep smiling... Even with stinky feet in your face. Happy Wednesday
Definitely not the run I had planned today. But between a teething baby and a 5 year old throwing up, I’m only going on about 3 hours of sleep. I’m happy I got anything done. But now I have a full day professional development. LOTS of coffee
Happy Wednesday! This week feels like it is flying by for me.
4 miles (10:08 pace) this morning that ALMOST turned into my long run. I kept debating it in my head because it’s supposed to rain Friday morning 😫. The wind was nasty though and I just wanted to feel my face again 😂. So I’m sticking with my schedule, which means another long treadmill run is happening! #dowhatyougottado 🤷♀️

HAPPY DUNKWALL WEDNESDAY!!
I haven’t run in almost 3 weeks. My husband’s conclusion. 😂 Guess I’m going on a run soon?
I started running in April to keep myself accountable after a weight loss challenge ended. I have run every week, at minimum 2-3x/week, often times 4-5x/week. I went from running 60 seconds at a time to completing a half marathon. I was eventually working out 6 days a week, cross training, lifting weights, two a days, and increasing mileage and speed.
Some of those runs, especially if they fell on my husband’s day off, I had to fight for. Taking time for myself, was something we hadn’t seen Jessica do for a long time. I had 5 babies in 8 years. Before then I was a 20-something with no direction, working and partying my way through life. My hobbies included eating out and sleeping in. Then I had kids and my hobbies included never sleeping and being peed on.
I committed to taking some time off from running AND working out. The first week off, I was utterly EXHAUSTED. It felt like I was recovering from the flu. I had absolutely no energy. I had pushed and pushed and pushed my body. I truly believe I needed this time off. I was literally running on empty and didn’t know it.
So a run this week we shall try. Looks like someone wants to tag along. ❤️ In my defense, I’ve had a period somewhere during this 3 week time, and I’ve had so little periods in the last 10 years (hello pregnancy and breastfeeding) that I think he might be slightly thrown off by hormones vs running withdrawal.😂
And I apologize if my husband’s reference to my “sexy” legs offends some of you. 🤷🏼♀️ It is what it is and I’m pretty stoked that I haven’t shaved my legs in forever and he still considers them sexy. Soooo....🤔#winning 🥳
#holidayrunstreak day 2️⃣ Forgot to turn on my gps until 1/4 mile in, so we will call today 1.?? miles. A blizzard is headed in overnight, and it’s supposed to lay down a nice layer of ice first before it drops 4-10” of snow (which is a lot for the Midwest), so we’ll see what tomorrow looks like. 🤷🏼♀️ #rwrunstreak
