Basic tips on how to plan a move
1. Organize a moving agenda
Maintain a written agenda for the move. This can start with a list of everything that needs to be done (from purchasing boxes, labels, tape, etc. to when to start packaging what)
2. Get as many boxes
Acquire enough boxes and tape - you will need more than you can imagine. You can buy folding boxes in DIY stores or buy them from supermarkets or another type of store.
3. Organize the boxes visually
Use color coordination to make it easier for the workers of the moving company to know where to put each box in the new house. Put stickers of different colors in each box (for example yellow for kitchen items, blue bathroom, lilac bedroom, red room ...) and when you arrive at your new home, stickers of the same color on the door of the room where it corresponds each box.
4. Organize items by categories
Organize items that go together during the packing process. For example, lamps with their corresponding bulbs, cups with saucers, hand shower with its support etc.
5. Start as soon as possible
Start the process of saving items in boxes as soon as possible. If it is winter, keep clothes and accessories for summer weeks before moving, also keep books, toys, CDs, kitchen items etc.
6. Beware of valuable items
Pay special attention to valuable items and try to make room in the car so they can travel with you. This not only includes jewelry, but important papers, passports, receipts, personal agendas, phone lists, etc.
7. Moving and children
A move can be especially complicated if you have children, because changing from one house to another can be traumatic for children, especially if the new house is in another city. Try to involve your children in the moving process, buy happy boxes for them so they can put their personal things themselves.
This is my amazing and gorgeous older sister Melissa and I. Reunited in Royse City, Texas for Thanksgiving with her and her beautiful family. She’s one helluva a mother to three precious children : Hadley, Hunter, and Hazel. She’s a wonderful wife to her lovely husband. She’s a great daughter. And she’s been someone I’ve looked up to and has been a role model to me ever since I could remember. Through thick and thin. She was and still is an amazing sister, who I’ve created many moments and memories with over the years. For better or worse lol. She has had and continues to have my back and wants what’s best for me and my health and future in general and moving forward. She’s one tough cookie who I’m lucky to have on my side! So gentle, caring, accepting, thoughtful, giving, kind, and loving! Wonderful nurse too! Very supportive too! She’s been one of my best friends for the past 32 years of my life. Couldn’t ask for a better sister and person in my life. I am so thankful and blessed. I wish nothing but success for her, and for great health, wealth, and happiness for her and hers. #SisterAndI#OlderSister#MyDayOne#FamilyOverEverything#LovelyMotherOfThree#LovelyWife#LovelyDaughter#LovelySister#LovelyNurse#BlessedByTheBest#RoyseCityTexas#Thanksgiving#Reunited#RoleModelToAll#ThroughThickAndThin#BeautifulSoul#BestFriend#PropsDueToThisMama
