Our temple run in #Japan continues with the resplendent Kinkaku-ji (“Temple of the Golden Pavilion”) in Kita-ku, #Kyoto . When we were there, it was cloudy and raining. One can only imagine, during the height of fall when the foliage of the surrounding gardens change colours, just how beautiful it’ll look during the sunset #golden hour on a clear autumn day. The vermillion sun, the golden pavilion, and the multi-colored autumn foliage, all reflected in all their glory on the pond 😘
This temple, Kinkaku-ji, is one of the most photographed temples in Japan! Those two floors are completely covered in gold leaf: certainly an eye-catching temple considering the humbleness of other temples around.
Take me back to beautiful shrine and temple gardens in Kyoto 😍. Even the popular ones like Kinkaku-ji that are filled with tourists and not so quiet. If the heron can ignore them and keep hunting in the An-min-taku so can I!
