On this day in 1960, the USSR recovered two dogs, Belka and Strelka (“Squirrel” and “Little Arrow” in Russian). In preparation for manned spaceflight, Korabl-Sputnik-2 also carried 40 mice, 2 rats and a variety of plants. After a day in orbit, its retrorocket was fired and the landing capsule returned to Earth. The dogs were the first living organisms to return from space. Earlier, on 3 Nov 1957, the USSR launched Sputnik 2, with a stray Siberian husky, Laika ("Barker"). By design, it did not return to Earth; Laika died in space a few days later. On 12 Apr 1961, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space.

Enroll in our after school belts today, because your daughter has the prime position to make HER story!!!
M. Ani Hsieh of the @Penngineering heads the interdisciplinary Scalable Autonomous Robots Lab, which is working to map ocean currents with a swarm of marine robots like this one. Fueled by the power of the water’s currents, a fleet of these robots could stay in the ocean beyond the lengths of time any manned vehicle could without extensive equipment and fuel.#robo#robotics
Day 2 #Robotics bootcamp for children in collaboration with Robokidz Club India. The main goal of this boot Camp is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge on basic principles in electronics, science and engineering using specialized kits designed by Team Robokidz.
Getting started in Advanced Coding & Robotics with Python. Pretty stoked as this is a new elective for me and it’s all kids who have taken robotics before. Will be learning Python right along with the kids :)

Tomy Armatron (1980) Remember this one? The Armatron is a toy robot from the 1980s made by TOMY and distributed by Radio Shack in the United States. It consists of a crane-like arm with two attached joysticks which can be manipulated to pick up small objects. It was essentially similar to industrial robots of the 1980s. The two joysticks selectively engage or disengage gears on a set of rotating drums to control the arm's movement. Who of you still have one? 🤖
