Don’t forget about this summer salad— #prosciutto , #cantaloupe , and fresh #mozarella with some arugula scattered in there. I reduced our @weolivelajolla fig balsamic vinegar to drizzle allllll over. Perfection.

I’m not pretending this is easy to talk about, but it needs to be said. These first months with Riley have been the greatest gift and the greatest challenge of my life. New moms sometime feel like there’s no space for them to say that they’re not happy because they should be glad that they have this bundle of joy in their arms. I absolutely adore my daughter and love being her mother AND it is hard. Both can be true, and both are true for me. Certain moments have been harder than others. Sometimes hard has looked like struggling to carry a heavy car seat (because OMG its heavy, y’all, and I am really short and have tiny hands 😂), and other times hard looks like...curling up in a ball and crying real tears and not knowing where they’re coming from, but trying to honor them because you’re a human being with feelings, and you’re also a therapist so you know the feeling will pass and tears are healthy for emotional release. All of it is okay. I’ve been so glad and relieved to see that my OB and pediatrician have both checked in with a postpartum assessment because we need to take care of ourselves and our own mental health in this process.
Did you know? 1 in 7 moms suffer from postpartum depression. If you feel you may be, know that it is not your fault and you are not to blame. Your brain chemistry literally changes after pregnancy, and can be a contributing factor to heightened feelings of hopelessness, emptiness and depression. Please know that you’re not alone, and that it is okay to seek support. You’re not a bad mom if you find this new mom life hard—like really ridiculously hard—sometimes. We can do hard things. Yes, your child’s wellness matters, AND your wellness matters, too.
Coming home from the Cape always feels like the end of summer to me. I keep reading about how sad that is to some, but I’ll take all the fall drives to see the leaves, rain boots, football Sundays with spaghetti simmering on the stove, and many more drizzly days spent tinkering in the kitchen. And let’s not forget my little cherubs heading back to school - that right there inspires deep joy and I’m not feeling the least bit of guilt about it either. Tell me, what are you most looking forward to this fall? #wllife#wltravels#capecod
Okra. It’s a hot topic. People typically have very strong opinions about it and it’s either loved or hated. I fall into the love category. I typically find the reasons for the hate category because of the slime. I’m here to tell you the okra does not have to be slimy. If you char the okra on high heat, the slime is it the slime mostly goes away and you are left with delicious okra. Toss it with gochujang sauce like I did here and you’ve got a winner. Be on the lookout for this Charred Gochujang Okra, it’s coming your way soon. #apleasantlittlekitchen
I look at pictures of myself when I was younger and I always get this knot in my throat. This knot of “I wish I could tell you..”, “when you’re older this won’t even matter” or “you’ll have to deal with this later on but it’s okay cause God is with you”
I look at those big brown eyes, that tiny nose that makes me look like a whoville character and the innocence of little Genesis and I’m reminded that although I can’t go back and warn her or tell her what I wish someone could’ve told me, God was with me. In so many instances I look back and I could see how God protected me, loved me, held me and strengthened me.
God is truly a constant God, never changing, always there, never far away and always faithful — to little Genesis + to me now — and to you, too.

👍 Juice bags = More fun! Passion fruit juice, basil seeds, mint leaves, and lime from @zoe_dessert_et_the at the Asian Night Market in Old Port (finally made it in this year, opposed to last year's overwhelming turnout 😝) @nightmarketmtl #nightmarket
U-pick 🌸. A bright spot in an otherwise exhausting week- significant water damage in our finished basement, a miserable teething baby, a health scare for my middle guy, and saying goodbye to my husband and hello to two weeks of solo parenting. I’m officially handing in my “adult” card. Mom and dad- take me back 😩
This Sunday Suppers situation at @thegraycanary is the weekend finale you’ve been searching for—casual yet next-level cocktails, shareable snacks, family-style supper—all exclusive to the coveted day of the week we wish would never end. Alex and I just shared this plate of pork ribs with beet glaze, pickled watermelon rind, peanuts. And now the food coma commences. 🍽
Today’s cooler temps brought a glimpse of the upcoming quieter season... when the crowds thin out and the days seem less full. I certainly don’t wish the summer away by any means, but I do always welcome the heartiness and charm of fall in New England ❤️
@glowbalbyglowbal’s off-menu Surf & Turf Platter ours featured a decadent 20oz aged ribeye, a medley of seafood, and all the fixings including their tasty brussel sprouts. Thank you for a memorable evening! ✨

I have a weakness for heirloom tomatoes. Anyone else? 🍅 I just can’t get over their unique shapes, colors, and flavors. These beauties from the Westside Farmers Market look too good to eat so they’re my centerpiece for now. (And occasional snack!)
On an unrelated note, the giveaway for my book ends tomorrow. See my previous post for details and for a chance to win! Now, back to tomatoes...
