If you don’t get this excited about food, you’re doing it wrong! Seriously though, I think sometimes we can feel guilty for actually enjoying food. We think that means there is either something wrong with the food itself (eg ‘it’s addictive’) or ourselves (eg ‘I’m greedy’). 🤓

It’s so important to enjoy your food. I see so many people eating foods they hate because they’re ‘clean’, ‘macro friendly’ or ‘nutrient dense.’ There are no foods that we have to eat to be healthy and there are no foods that we need to exclude either. 🧐

We all know the foods that are healthy for us but it’s easy to get caught up with food marketing and start thinking that foods are ‘good’ or ‘bad’. I find when people get into this mindset it can be a slippery slope, with diets becoming more and more restrictive over time. 🥺

If this is you right now, know that it can get better. The first stage is accepting where you are right now and then taking small steps to gradually expand the range of foods that you eat. Get in touch with what you really like and dislike, rather than what is okay according to your ‘rules’. ✌️

Thought I’d start posting up some stuff to do with strength training since I’ve done the old dirty ditch on bodybuilding 😂. Managed to pull 260kg at 93kegs for my last lift a couple weeks back and probs had a few left in the tank but you can’t know that until afterwards 🤷‍♂️. Might post up some training stuff on me road to a 300 dead and some better squat and bench numbers in the future. Just don’t unfollow pls 👀. Shoutout to my cameraman, spotter and brother @jahnnieboy

Hey Monday! This weekend was pretty much a blur packed with time with friends and running in my favorite weather - yes, I‘m a winter person 😍. I‘m finally back on the gram after my phone spent some time at the Apple store last week. Here‘s a snap from the Loch Ness Marathon since I forgot to take a pic on my run yesterday 🤷‍♀️. I‘m so excited for the week ahead as I slowly start decorating for Christmas and the Christmas markets start to open this weekend around the city. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year! 😍

Was able to get in a 6.5-mile, bright and icy trail run before it got dark tonight! Parts of the trail were so icy that it was more of a trail “walk” than a trail “run” (I guess you call that a “hike”?). Regardless, was nice to get out on the mountain and get some exercise. The snowy mountains looked beautiful, there were deer everywhere, and I definitely ate shit on the ice once. Just once!

This year, one of my goals was to overcome the stiffness that accompanies building muscle. To introduce organic flow into my movements, which ties into my other goal of embracing my feminine. 
I’ve never taken yoga besides Bikrams years ago, which I forced myself to try twice in the hopes that I would learn to like it. Never happened! I never set out to learn to do the splits. But I do enjoy finding angles to stretch to, and to my surprise I was able to plunk down like this a couple months ago. 
My body is my muse, my playground, my paintbrush and canvas all rolled up in one. Can’t send out enough gratitude for this lean machine that runs like clockwork and always leaves me astounded! 💃🏻 #plantbased

Sunday Reflection: Compassion is written on the logo over my heart. In an intense physical sport that can be punishing and brutal, you will also find hockey players to be compassionate people. The LA Kings launched the “Enough” campaign less than 24 hours after the massacre in Thousand Oaks, which other LA sports teams subsequently joined. 🏃🏽‍♀️🌿💕 30 years ago I ran my first 10K in Cambridge. Today I ran my second. Same town, same beautiful river, but this time powered by plants and 15 minutes faster. Beyond grateful for the abundant bounty nature provides and the important lessons running teaches about #pma and perseverance when that voice in the head says "I can't... I don't have it in me...why even bother". And proud of my inspiration @dgoldman23 who made it to the podium once again! 💕🌿🏃🏽‍♀️

Interesting observation. Since I’m really watching my heart rate and any aberrations due to my atrial fibrillation I noticed that my HR would sometimes elevate when drinking. It would go up and then come right down.  But, it was a spike and perked my interest. Which brings me to a point about Afib and that is to figure out what your “triggers” are and to try to control those. I know drinking is not a trigger, but something related to swallowing can be.  That is, ice cold drinks and/or anything iced. Think ice cream and popsicles. A friend of mine related a story of how he ended up in the emergency room with a popsicle induced arrhythmia, Afib. It occurred because he swallowed a piece and it got stuck in his esophagus right next to the heart. The esophagus actually passes right by the left atrium of the heart which is one of the regions of the heart that Afib originates from. 🍦

Miss Moreno Valley and the City Councilman starting all of the races and doing podium presentations were the highlight of my trip out to @socalcross. I aspire to both: hold an elected city government position while rocking a tracksuit like a fucking boss hanging out at #cyclocross races all weekend long and also want to win a beauty pageant and rock a crown like a fucking queen and be the single most glamorous thing within a 1000 mile radius. Two weeks until CIM!🙌🏼🏃🏻‍♂️ One more hard final push training run before the big day💪🏼 this was a good route, as it taxed my legs up and down hills in preparation for a hilly marathon😬 I did a 5 mile goal marathon pace tempo in there, as well as a 3 mile and 2×1 mile at a harder effort. Super happy with the paces that I hit and feeling more prepared than never for the race to come😇

You’d be surprised how many people drink half a litre of water or less a day and believe they’re ‘well hydrated’

The recommended daily intake for someone with an inactive job and exercises minimally is 2 litres (or 8 x 250ml glasses) per day, this is without taking in to consideration weather conditions, alcohol consumption, activity levels and an active job

Any of my clients will tell you, I’m a hydration nazi, and looking at the diagram, you’ll understand why. If you’re someone who often suffers with headaches, bloating, dry skin, feeling fatigued, constant cravings and feeling hungry - your water intake and quality should be the first place you investigate. Thirst occurs when your body needs water. When you don’t drink enough water, your brain receives mixed signals on hunger. Dehydration causes you to believe you need to eat when you need water 💀

Ways to increase water intake: - Eat your water. Use water as a milk substitute in foods like porridge and shakes
- Buy a 2 litre water container and drink throughout the day
- Drink a glass of water before and after each meal
- Mix with sugar free cordial to make water more enjoyable
