During the cold weather our blood flow is restricted & our muscles become more stiff & tight, ⚠️this can lead to risk of injury. Increase your circulation with self-myofascial release (I use @pknotting ) when you increase your blood circulation and loosen your joints in your warm up you will increase the blood flow into your muscles. This can allow for greater range of motion in muscles, more protein synthesis to occur, greater muscle pump💪🏻, and overall use of the muscle during your workout. •

After my leg day I was really feeling the tight soreness the next morning in my legs and glutes. In these photos I start rolling on my quads, from there I went to my IT band (which goes sort of diagonally from your hip to your knee motion). Then I sit up and start on the other side of my leg hitting the hamstrings first, then rolled out my glutes & finished with just putting pressure on my gluteus medius (aka top butt) - you don’t really want to roll your lower back so this really helps when that area is sore especially with the Pknot because of its shape with the rounded ends it can get in certain spots that a longer cylinder roller can’t. If you have any questions feel free to holla🙋🏼‍♀️

Tuesdays are a great day for dedicating 20 mins to gaining some toe spread. 
The toes are supposed to be able to move in a range of motion that allows for the feet to "grip" the ground for both balance and power when either idle or in a quick change of direction. 
The problem is we lose the ability to utilize our toes due to: ^Lack of overload/use of the dexterous movements, ultimately making our ankles stiff ^Tight shoes that crowd the toes and/or little time being barefoot during the day ^Poor hip mobility (from too much sitting probably)
And ^a lack of the P-Knot #DailyHabitChallenge ... So Tuesdays are now #ToeSpreadTuesdays

meet my new bff. well, #pknot & a plain old lacrosse ball. i've been nursing this whole back thing for a while. at least what was initially thought to be a back thing. something told me, though (my tight hamstrings) , that my hamstrings were really tight. too tight, causing my body to overcompensate and be in a constant state of stress. not good. not fun. and definitely NOT how i wanted to spend roughly half the year, looking for solutions (which i know is actually better in the long run). by chance (kismet💫) i found this video a while back about how releasing the fascia in your feet is great for tight hamstrings. fantastic! i thought, because nothing else had given me relief. by far, my condition had improved but the only tennis ball i had was a squeaky dog toy ( not very effective 😒). finally, someone left a lacrosse ball in my boss's mailbox at school and i took it with the intent of just rolling my feet, to see if that would help anything. •

• 🔴YOU GUYS. the relief was almost instantaneous🔴 i only did each foot for about a minute to start since i was at work, but just getting up and walking to fill my water bottle was SO much easier. i was floating. it felt like i was floating, it was so easy. i hadn't fully appreciated how much tension (esp my back) and stress my body had been under until i took those steps with so much ease. it was a miracle (to me). a friend had told me a while ago about #pknot but i just brushed it off and forgot about it. but i love it just as much as the poor, beat-up lacrosse ball that gave me new life. 
hallelujah! i'm trying not to get ahead of myself and jump back into the training i'm used to, but this is the first, best step in that direction. 
have been sitting on this for a few days. hope this helps anyone else having similar issues that deep tissue massage can only help or even if you feel a mild to med tightness. lacrosse balls = your bfff. no joke.

You either Give Up on Quitting smoking ~ or ~ you Quit Giving Up.  Think about it..... Quitting means to stop doing something that has little to no positive outcome, where as Giving Up means you have little discipline and energy to push through hard moments of time to reach a positive outcome.

The #FrontPlank in any of its variations is often times performed incorrectly (and unintentionally). Using the #pknot as an aid helps to "cue" yourself into firing the correct muscle groups that this #exercise is designed for. Never thought this would happen, but my trusty rubber massage roller has been relegated to the closet. Possibly for good. You see, I have completely fallen for the P-Knot. Founder Ethan Plante calls it the next generation of foam rolling and he's right. Because it's bispherical, the P-Knot reaches all sorts of muscles that are too hard to reach with your typical massage roller. His 5-minute daily habit challenge tells you all you need to know.

First, roll your feet, the foundation to the rest of your body. Then sit on it. Ouch, I know. Butt muscles are powerful and inactive glutes are big contributors to lower back pain. Finally, roll your mid and upper back. Neck pain, headaches, shoulder and back pain, breathing issues, the appearance of stomach fat. All can result from neglect of the mid spine. Plus, spine work helps my weightlifting by opening up the chest and shoulders. 
And for each exercise, don't just roll back and forth. Take your time and sink slowly into the P-Knot. It can handle it.
