We're catching a quick nap (and cuddle) whilst we wait for Cooper's 4 monthly botox injections. He has to have a general anaesthetic as it's quite intrusive having up to 10 injections in his upper and lower limbs.
Botox helps to reduce spasticity and dystonic tightness in Cooper's muscles. It slowly takes effect over the next week or so, then hits a peak over the next month or 2, then starts to wear off in the 3rd month or so. Once it's well and truly worn off we notice Cooper becoming tight, irritable and in a lot of pain. Imagine excessive cramping in your limbs at various times during the day and night, just horrible. During these times we give him Epsom Salt Baths, magnesium powder in his milk and magnesium oil massages.
For more mobile kids/adults, having Botox injections can mean the difference between being able to eat, sit, crawl or walk. How fortunate are we to have so much medical support available to make our kids more comfortable in their daily life?
Very grateful 💗
Moving Day! A huge day today for Telethon Kids Institute as it (and the lab that we help fund) moves into its permanent new home @PerthChildrenshospital. There has been so much achieved at PMH and we hope to go on and support the achievement of so much more at this new address. Enjoy the new address team, we look forward to visiting you in the new lab.
2 weeks ago and only a few days into our holiday we hit Geraldton and were just reacessing where to go next due to the absolute shit weather when Poppy accidentally swallowed a $2 coin while getting more supplies at the shops. I gave it to her to hold in her jacket pocket so she can go for a ride on the peppa pig ride on our way out. Unknown to me she took out the coin when she took off her jacket because she was hot. And as any normal 3 year old who was told by their mother DO NOT LOSE THAT COIN OR YOU WON'T GET A RIDE ON PEPPA PIG ON YOUR WAY OUT puts it in her mouth for safe keeping. I had to get another side for Brett in the change rooms and pushed her out of my way and as that happened she inhaled the coin. She choked but was breathing fine after her initial freak out and started talking to us she was able to say "I swallowed my money it is stuck in my throat." Headed to ED and it was a whirl wind as they took this all pretty serious and we were needed to fly to Perth to have it removed through her mouth at the children's hospital. Almost 10 hours of vomitting got Pops as it was in her gag reflex but not in her air way thankfully and in for surgery at 10pm it was a relief when I was shown a bed and had my Daughter tucked up safe in my arms. On the plus side we had to reacess as I said as the weather was so bad we couldn't do what we wanted to do which was camp on the beach somewhere for 4 nights and that wasnt going to be fun in the rain the whole time and as we were already on our way to Perth for Poppy to have an operation for grommets anyway we just stayed in perth longer to wait for her 2nd op in a week.
Just one of our delicious salads - Mushroom & Soba noodle salad is a tasty combination of chinese cabbage, cucumber, fried shallots, black sesame seeds, coriander, nori, eggs and, of course mushrooms and soba noodles. So tasty!

D A Y T R I P| to Perth yesterday to take this little champ to his immunology appointment at the new Perth Childrens Hospital.
After much pleading and promising to the nurses, we were granted 10 minutes out of our 3 and a 1/2 hour long apt to race up to level 4 where the @westcoasteagles were visiting all the kids.
My goodness did this kid beam!! You couldnt wipe the smile off of his face for the rest of the day.
We had left home at 7am and got back home at 9:30pm exhausted but with a little man's heart full 💙💛💙
Oh and yes, Matty is fine. His Mango challenge came back negative which means that he can now eat mango flesh again; he just needs to avoid contact with the skin so his face doesnt swell again. Xoxo.
The tasty sushi hand rolls at Green Panda are also available in catering platters! Ask one of our friendly staff about getting catering delivered to your next event or check out the full catering menu at foodhallpch.com.au

The Foundation is committed to ensuring that Perth Children's Hospital has access to the best equipment possible so that staff can continue to deliver extraordinary care 👏🏻
We recently received some lovely feedback from Eric Williams, Chief Medical Imaging Technologist:
"Recently the Foundation purchased three bean bag immobilisation devices for Medical Imaging. We recently used the bean bag for the first time on the CT scanner for an infant with a head injury. The current method of immobilisation is strapping. The bean bag allowed the child to be immobilised whilst avoiding the haematoma on the skull and thus less distressful situation for both child and parent - great result! Please can we thank the Foundation for their support in purchases like these that improve the patient experience and allow the staff to continually improve how we manage the child. Thanks, Eric" ☺️
Thank you to Nadia and little baby Morgan for allowing us to take these photos, and a huge thank you to all our amazing donors who make purchases like this possible! | #pchfwa#proud
