I’ve experienced my first “hard days” travelling in the last 24-48 hours. I cried on the phone to my mama because it felt like nothing was working out, I was hot & irritated & I hadn’t found somewhere to stay the way I’d hoped I would. I’d ended up in a run down, mouldy homestay that had ants all through the room & the bed & it was hit and miss if the water would turn on. I had expectations it would be easier than what it has been to achieve the things I wanted quickly & I started to feel like I was failing at solo travelling. Lol! I realised in my calling in of surrendering to flow, I’d actually gotten a little lazy & just hadn’t properly planned anything - I was leaving it all up to the mystery - which has so much beauty & it’s teaching me A LOT - but when I’m on my first solo travel mission, I think there’s something to be said for a teensy tiny bit of pre-work. Lesson learned!
I made a last minute decision last night to book a place a little way out from Ubud. I’d been avoiding doing this, despite just wanting to be close to nature, as I am not super confident about hiring a scooter and riding it myself here, so it means if I want to get into town, I’ll need to get someone to take me in to town all the time.
I arrived at the space today& so far, I’m glad I made this decision. It’s the kind of thrown together, recycled, eco home of my dreams - not at all flashy, but with so much charm & there are trees all around me. There’s also space to dance which I realised I’d been missing as soon as I got here. It’s fairly open to the elements & I came home in the dark & rain tonight to find a frog sprawled sexy legged on the lounge chair & some geckos in my bathroom chattering away. It’s storming pretty badly again tonight & my loft room is fairly open to the elements. I’m also totally on my own haha. There’s an ashram 250m up the road & I went and took a class there this evening - Savasana at the end under the outdoor Shala with a thunderstorm crashing down around me was pretty magnificent 🌧⚡️🌬 there was also a dog named Jaya who kept joining us on the mat & was an extra good doggo - it made me pretty happy. 🐶 *cont in comments*
