On social media we tend to only share the great stuff that happens to us, which makes sense because you want to share your highlights (in life, in makeup & in stabilo markers) rather than the low points.
Today I want to share an embarrassing story from my law school experience.
One time my exam was so bad that the person correcting it stopped after the second page and just wrote the result that I didn’t pass 😂
This goes to show you that it’s not all flowers & sunshine, everybody makes mistakes.
Are there any failures in school that you’d laugh about looking back?

Loooooooong post Alert....It is a must read, to encourage someone.
My Word is for today is partly Strength and Mercy.... Back in 1999/2000 (I think), I was in Mr. Adeojo’s class, 300 level Commercial law. We had earlier had a test and he was calling out test results. He called out names and you had to raise your hand to acknowledge you were in class.
I raised my hand at my name, he looked at me and ignored me. He went onto the next person.
Little did I know, this was a pivotal turn in my entire life…… After class, I approached him wanting to know my result, he said to me “you are an extremely disrespectful young lady, how dare you raise your left hand when I called your name”. I apologized and he told me my test results. You see, I am left handed, I do everything with my left hand, everything except eat.
I eat with my left hand, if someone was being obtuse, if I ever ate with my left, I did it deliberately. However, on this day, I did it thoughtlessly, I did not even think it.
Fast forward to 2003, we were preparing for law school, I went to the notice board like every other aspirant to the law School to ensure all my results were complete. Behold, my commercial law was written in RED, cold fear clutched my heart.
I went to see Adeojo, I escalated the matter to then Ag.Dean Dr. Sokefun, I wrote letters, my examination script was brought out and I had an half mark which with my test results could have carried me over the pass mark of 40 marks (Don’t judge me please, I was young and foolish). Adeojo claimed that I didn’t write the test, I reminded him of that disrespectful left handed girl that followed him around the faculty with other students begging to be told her test results…
We dragged, we pulled, I was even asked to bring those students who begged him on my behalf that fateful day, I produced them. Ultimately, it was the lecturer’s word against mine.
I begged, ha, I cried, I wailed, I cried out my pretty eyes, i wrote more letters, my Mum had to come down to Ago-Iwoye. I prayed, I railed against God. Ha, Baba God what did I do to you sir, to deserve this.

INTO TO THE UNKNOWN: 18mi + 5k (track) ALL OUT.
Today’s session was big, it tested me physically and specially mentally. But I knew that going into it as I arrived early morning (~6am) in Santa Monica- where @jayna_lehman met me to jam out w/ me couple miles then played an important role of fueling me every couple miles. I had explained to her “let’s get these 18mi out the way, then real test will be the 5k at the track.” When we arrived to the track I was pretty exhausted and had to snap out of it cause Jay kept repeating “12.5 laps ALL OUT” but I was thinking 4laps at a time LOL. Knocking out the first mile wasn’t too bad, but mile 2 got so real and was struggling mentally. I wanted to tap out and I kept telling jay I was going to stop after mile 2. But having her there cheering me on every lap made me snap out of it and ended up finishing the last mile faster. It’s crazy how the mind works. The build up has been amazing as we’ve been jammin’ out every other week 20-22mi session. We chipping away!!!! Unlocking the long run.
Special shoutout to Jay for the 7mi jam, then supporting me to finish the workout. From mile 1 to the last lap you were there cheering me on. That’s is the definition of teamwork!
