Had the pleasure of seeing the opening night of “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” at The Princess Of Wales Theatre... and what a show!!!! And I had the even greater pleasure of meeting the only surviving original member of @thetemptations , Otis Williams. I feel so fortunate and grateful to have done so 😊. And of course I saw some friends along the way! Big shout out to @shawn_bowersnyc for the ticket link 🤗... fantastic job! And shout out to @rashidrascott111 for belting out some serious notes in the show. If your looking to be taken on a historical and musical journey about the life and times of The Temptations, you’ve got another 5 weeks to seek out that experience!!! #thetemptations#musicaltheatre#randb#oldschool#music
Alignment of the body is so important for efficient singing. Helping my students achieve optimal alignment is one of my favourite parts of the lesson (well, actually I love every moment of the lesson!)
Upper cross syndrome, text neck, poor core strength, lordosis, sway back, and so on, are problems that affect singers young and old. Our sedentary lifestyle has a lot to do with this.
First step: Start with corrective exercises that ensure good form and fire the correct muscles. .
Second step: Make movement an everyday part of your life.
Third step: Keep it up for life!
When the whole cast is absolutely focused on their story ✨ One big thing we focus on at SYDC is living the stories we tell.
Embodying the values of the piece and feeling as though the music, the costumes, the set, the lights and most importantly the movement are all one powerful entity. We believe in the power of a good story, a good theme, a good message. So this encourages us to work hard behind the scenes to make sure each individual dancer understands why they might be doing something. Right down to the details of what their fingers or faces are doing. This is important because we are usually doing a story work and in a story piece, the audience believes you more if you reflect a real person to which they can relate. .
🍃 DANCERS AND CHOREOGRAPHERS TIP OF THE DAY - if you’re doing a story dance, or ANY dance or piece of movement for that matter, have a think about where your eyes are. Eyes matter a lot more than you think they do and can add so much to a piece. They almost need a choreography of their own. When the eyes are focused, the body also becomes more in tune with the movement and the audience is taken on an even deeper journey throughout the work. “Eye choreography” was a huge part of getting Ariadne on stage and we know we’ll use this technique in future dances - story or no story. 👀
A monster of a season launch for an ambitious theatre group. We were at @phoenixensemble 2019 launch last night and boy was the evening thrilling. Congratulations to the company on their killer line-up and special shout out to our creative @el.boal, who will be directing their fourth production, Jekyll & Hyde. Chuck our mates a follow as they have some epic things planned next year 💚
Another #tbt Throwing it back about 7 yrs ago, when I still did cover uploads. Sometimes I sing. 😉 🤷 Haven't done that in a very long time. Miss the mic. Ten points to the person who guesses which one of my favorite musicals this is from. Ten more if you guess who originally sang it. #singer#dancer#songanddance#performingartist#MusicalTheatre

Last night, I had the immense pleasure of donning a Belle outfit to reveal the 2019 Phoenix Ensemble season! So I figured, instead of posting an outfit or earring related image today, I’d share my costume from last night! Swipe to see a cheeky performance video! 🧡#FashionFriday#BeautyAndTheBeast#TeachingWithTasselEarrings
