SWISS BALL PLANK WITH KNEE TAPS.

This is an excellent exercise if you find yourself falling asleep doing standard planks. It takes planks to the next level, really challenging your abdominals, back, and shoulders.
To perform this exercise get in a modified push-up position with your elbows bent at 90 degrees with both forearms resting on the center of a Swiss ball.
Position your elbows directly underneath your shoulders maintaining a neutral cervical spine by looking at the floor. Your body should form a straight line making sure to engage your core to prevent bending at the hips.
Finally, slowly lift one leg off the ground bringing your knee to tap the Swiss ball and return to starting position. Alternate legs for repetitions. I learned this exercise from Dr. Ann DeGrey.
“Relief” is the name of this workout. I realized while I was doing this workout today that I don’t stretch enough! Stretching is so important for your muscles and it also prevents injury! This mama has no time for an injury! What types of stretches do you enjoy?

I was, then I started to notice how tight my hamstrings always were, I couldn’t reach my toes without bending my knees a little, my shoulders were starting to roll forward a bit. NOT. GOOD!
Today we are constantly faced with obstacles on a daily basis that will eventually lead to tightness and bad posture, including:
😱Looking down at your phone (like you’re doing now) - I can’t tell you how many young adults I’ve seen with forward head, rolled shoulders, horrible posture, most likely from looking down at a screen all day. It’s best to keep your phone at eye level instead of down in your lap thus straining the muscles in your neck and back.
😱Sitting - The tendency of many when sitting is to roll the shoulders forward and hunch the back, then when trying to correct our posture while still sitting, many will do this incorrectly and overextend the spine. It’s best to stand up, fix your posture and sit back down in good posture. Too much sitting can also tighten the hamstrings and hips.
These two variations of child’s pose are one of my favorite ways to stretch the hips and shoulders. It’s just as important to stretch as it is to exercise!
