Truth be told...I really (really) don’t enjoy backbends🤷🏼‍♀️. I mean, other than Urdhva Dhanurasana (thats my fave😬) I literally hesitate & have a mini inner freak out when backbends come up in class.  They challenge me in many ways and my back is not naturally flexible so it takes a loooooot of warming up to make them accessible in my body.  But here’s the thing, that which brings up such a strong response within me deserves some looking into 🤔. So I practice them; I don’t avoid them.  And I warm up!  And then I explore the deeper layers of this response. 💪🏻 We don’t have to love every single yoga pose!  But if there is a strong aversion to one pose, or an entire group of them, then there is something there that needs a deeper look.  #doyourwork #backbends

If you follow me here, you know how passionate I am about health and wellness.  Almost 3 years ago exactly, I was struggling with low energy, anxiety, and a few extra unwanted lbs. Soooo,
I took a chance on Beachbody hoping it was going to help change the game for me, and did it ever! The library of fitness programs, meal plans and an amazing network of women helped pave the way to a much healthier, fitter and better version of myself.  It has become a HUGE part of my life.

Fast forward 3 years, where I started with a weight set of 3, 5 and 8lbs, a yoga mat and a small space at home. I had my doubts about the home-workout gig ….would it be effective? Would I have be motivated and committed in my own home and my schedule? I didn’t love the idea of “sharing” progress pics etc. with a group of women who I didn’t know (seriously outside the comfort zone!)

These doubts were put to rest after 21 days!  I lost the unwanted lbs, I started to see physical changes but MUCH MORE than that - I was becoming mentally stronger, I had wayyyy more energy, was sleeping better – and generally felt like I could kick some ass at life – boom! 👊🏻
.
Being a part of my boys’ lives- not just cheering them on the sidelines – was a driving force to making the changes that I made. .
FYI I’m big on balance, I still enjoy tacos and margaritas 🌮🍹bitchessssss (I’m not a savage!) and I also believe in working out SMARTER not longer.  You don’t need to spend hours at it. (Beginner and advanced programs available). .
NEVER stop setting goals (no matter what they are) and never stop bettering yourself!  Soooo, in the spirit of doing something outside the comfort zone – I’m here to tell ya I partnered up with an amazing woman @beautyandbeastmodefit and I’m a officially a Beachbody coach and I’m open for business! 🎉 .
If you’re down to making some changes and leveling UP mind, body and soul, setting goals and crushin’ them – holllaaaa!  I got you! .

As an instructor that works the same class’s at the same time, every week, with the same clients, it’s very easy to become comfortable in your practice 🤸🏽‍♀️ ... but when I come in to do covers for a class, whether that be in my primary place of work or a completely new place, I get super nervous.. you wouldn’t know it because I just gotta do me regardless (and I’m good at being me haha🙋🏽‍♀️) but I do, I get this little voice in my head that makes me think - “this isn’t your class, maybe they really prefer their normal instructor so maybe they won’t like your style, maybe you’ll work them to much, maybe you won’t work them enough, maybe they will be reluctant to tell you important things you need to know” all these things run through my head because I really do care about how people think and feel, and without sounding like that ‘up yourself’ type of “I care about what people think of me” but in my profession it’s important that clients feel comfortable around me and know they can trust me and know I genuinely have their best interest at heart. I want them to feel like they can walk away from my class feeling cared for, listened too, nurtured for, hard worked and revitalised. Whether I am taking my normal classes or covering a class I treat all clients the same, my favourite feeling in the world is hearing clients feedback at the end of class telling me how much they enjoyed the class. - then, those voices disappear and I think to myself... #STOPDOUBTINGYOURSELF 🤦🏽‍♀️

Really diggin’ these raw recipes. And this was SO easy you guys, seriously.

Ingredients: 1 large cucumber, 1 small radish,  1 cup cashews, 1 cup macadamia nuts, 1 tbsp nutritional yeast, 5 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1 cup mint leaves, 1 cup agave, 1 tsp sea salt, black pepper to taste.
☼
“Goat Cheese” — process cashews & macadamia nuts on high speed (soak nuts in water for 1-24 hrs prior), add nutritional yeast, 3 tsp lemon juice, sea salt, then process again. If it isn’t processing well, add water until you get the consistency that you want. Roll in a large ball or a few small pieces.

Mint Jam — process mint leaves, agave, 2 tsp lemon juice, pinch of sea salt.

Cucumber Salad — dice up cucumber & slice radish. Garnish with extra mint leaves, and pepper to taste. Add the goat cheese on top and drizzle the mint jam alllll over that bish. Enjoy!

You want to be stronger, changed your weights, add an extra 5kg to your deadlifts and feel the burn. That burn is what you want. You want to be able to feel the change. You don’t want to plateau, you want progress! So we suggest writing down the things you want to change in a book, and then on another page write out ways you can achieve that! Every day set yourself goals on a piece of paper and tick them off one by one as you complete them. That tick, can give you so much satisfaction and motivation to complete everything else on that list. So come on, get up, work hard and make that change happen! I think some people dread having to exercise because they haven’t found something that they actually enjoy doing. Working out does not always have to be a “planned workout!” Go back to when you were growing up....what did you do that you loved!? For me it was 10 years of playing basketball! Lol...not going to lie-I looked around a little at first to see if anyone was laughing at me, lol, because I felt a little stiff and rusty...but I could have stayed out and played ALL DAY doing the sport I LOVE!  I totally got lost in the fun of it and lost track of time!  #getactive Do something you enjoy this weekend and it won’t FEEL like a workout!  #moveyourbody 📌Tag someone who needs to be reminded of what they USED to love doing!📌

Now what is my greatest tool used to be my greatest fear. ⠀
⠀
I spent most of my life hiding in relationships or friend groups or jobs that I never truly enjoyed just because I didn’t want to be alone. ⠀
Alone meant I had to get to know me. The real me. And that was beyond scary. ⠀
⠀
What if I don’t actually like the person that’s hiding behind it all?⠀
What if people don’t like who I am underneath, the real and raw? ⠀
What if they don’t agree with what I believe in or the dreams I have for myself?⠀
⠀
Because of these questions I asked myself.. I dimmed my light, day after day. ⠀
⠀
Recently, I tuned in to that light and saw me for ME. ⠀
And for the first time, I feel Home. ⠀
Full of love. Full of light. Accepted, surrendered, and at peace. ⠀
⠀
I spent the last week and a half getting to know me, the real me. Off of social, outside of my relationships. Just. Me. ⠀
⠀
Through meditation, light sourcing, prayer, creating art, writing, resting, crying, walking, releasing, reiki. So much magical healing. ⠀
⠀
I made the choice to just allow my heart to lead. And continue to make that choice daily. Moment after moment. ⠀
⠀
I am Home, wherever I am. Because Home lives inside of me. All around me. ⠀

We can either resist reality and focus all our energy on constantly complaining about them {despite that not changing anything about the situation} OR we can choose to focus on being grateful despite them.

✨Choose to focus on what’s NOT going wrong at this moment. ⠀
We all put so much energy into what is bad and what we don’t have, that we miss what is good and what we do have. The REAL PROBLEM is that usually by the time we realize how much good we missed and how unappreciative we were, it is too late {because when you don’t put energy into something it eventually disappears}.

Fact: It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy.

Make a quick list of ALL the things that are not wrong in your life at this very moment {Are you healthy? Can you keep up in soulcycle? Do you have friends to hang out with? Do you stay in touch with family? Is your barista really nice to you?}. Spend this weekend showing them gratitude to make sure they continue bringing you joy!
