This summer it's been harder to stick to an art routine. Instead I have taken online classes/books/training from such talented artists as Verena Fay (verenafay), Lyn Belisle (lynbelislestudio)and Roxanne Evans Stout (roxanneevansstout). I have learned and had fun doing so. Now anxious to practice and put it all together.#collage#mixedmedia#encaustic#artistsoninstagram#femaleartist#artisfun
Working outside! .
It’s so lovely out and I’ve got to take all the opportunities I can to do smelly stuff like spray painting outside. .
Truth be told, it’s a bit awkward moving inside and outside but the studio is wee (I may have mentioned that a few times 😂) and I would probably die if I sprayed inside. So yeah, self care, I guess I’m doing it in my own weird way.
Today I took myself on a much needed artist date. I spent the entire day just roaming around different galleries. Looking at art. Gaining such divine inspiration. I met a gallery owner (older Hungarian dude) showed him my work, he shrugged and was thoroughly unimpressed. That moment was one of the highlights of my day. While a lot of artists would get offended by that, or take a dislike of their work personally, it inspired me. Made me want to work more. Think deeper. Elevate my craft. He then gifted me with a book filled with the work of a very famous collage artist that he worked with. While it was entirely different than the type of work I do, it inspired me to think outside of the box when it comes to working on a future projects. He then recommended an artist residency that I should apply for. Although he wasn’t a fan of my work, he believed in my journey as an artist. After the day I had the other day, filled with doubt about my craft and my journey, today was exactly what I needed. I am an artist. I was created to create. All I can do is live my truth, create my work, and do it from the most honest corners of my soul. I’m grateful. Now time to manifest that artist studio for myself!🤗.
I just got a new watercolor from Daniel Smith. It’s called Potters Pink and it reminds me so much of Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. 🎨 I just had to try it out in my hot press watercolor Travelers notebook.
I added a bit of my Payne’s Gray Blue which I also love, can we say I’m a vintage color girl??? A few bits of paper completed this with the addition of a little brass key. I did some journaling and I’m so happy 😀 that I had a few moments to get arty today 🖍✂️
This weeks drawing class was looking at buildings. Using a range of media including pencil, pen, coffee, tracing and carbon copy paper. Free hand drawing without lifting the pen off the paper (hard but fun), drawing using pen and adding coffee and then tracing pictures and adding parts of the original picture to form a collage effect. Good fun again and learnt lots of new skills @paisley_art_workshops #art#drawingcourse#weekthree#buildings#mixedmedia#adultlearning
