So often what gets in the way of our happiness is the tendency of the mind to fall into unhelpful loops of negative thinking. This can propel us into a downward spiral and affect our lives in many unhelpful ways.

Mindfulness meditation is a form of rigorous training of the mind which helps us to become more familiar with the nature of the mind and more skillful in noticing when our minds are getting caught up in these unhelpful patterns of thought. When we learn to observe this, we can actually choose to disengage and move our attention in ways that support us rather than pull us down.

Whether it's loops of worry, planning into the future, replaying events from the past, or caught up in self-judgment -- when we develop the skill of mindfulness and bring this quality of awareness to the working of our own mind, we open up a whole new possibility toward greater happiness. Day 10: Biggest challenge of 2018. I feel like that's the same answer as day 8. And challenges are best met with spiritual practices (not that I'm as consistent as I would like to be, but that's another post). Much to my happiness, there's a labyrinth at school for a couple of days as part of Advent. I commented in day 2 that I really wanted to walk a labyrinth, and today I did.

Realizing you’re an obstacle to your own #success can be frustrating. But acceptance is the first step to healing. ⠀

By practicing #mindfulness, you can become aware of the thoughts that enter your head.  Realize that you don't have to believe everything you think. ⠀

Don't confront the inner dialogue that holds you back.  Don't argue with the voice. That would give it power. Simply observe, and then let go as if releasing a balloon. Those thoughts are not you. Separate yourself from them. ⠀

Begin to tell yourself a different story. The messages you tell yourself determine your perception of yourself, as well as your ability to accomplish your goals. ⠀

When you focus on something by telling yourself a more positive story--"I am fit and healthy" "I am successful" "I am loved" --that focus instantly creates ideas and thought patterns you wouldn't have had otherwise. Even your physiology will respond to an image in your head as if it were reality, and find ways to bring it into reality.⠀

There is a very, very deep part of me that is exhausted. It’s worked so hard, pushing and grinding to keep up a smile, while maintaining my survival and desire “to get ahead”. This will to exceed my own expectations has gotten the best of me. It’s drained me. I’ve succumbed to the social pressures to be “successful, fit and ultra positive,” while judging myself for not being “enough” and pushing myself when I really needed to rest. I did this out of fears of death. I’ve wanted to prove how great I am and show my value through achieving financial gains. I’ve wanted to feel secure by never having debt and building a savings but that hasn’t filled the deeper void. I’ve felt insignificant for not keeping up with social media trends and have given up trying to sell my self out to win attention.

As a coach, I want to live and teach in balance and with the harmony of seasonal changes. We can’t always be at the top or win every client or be the most popular. There will be seasons of decline and season of heights. We have been programmed to feel bad if we go through slower, harder, lonelier periods, and then if you’re like me, you judge yourself for it, HARD!

Don’t get me wrong, while this is painful, it’s also liberating to give myself permission to rest and let go and to reflect while giving myself grace when I am tired and want to hide from the world. I’m understanding that this is healthy to pace myself and be with the needs of my mind, body and soul. I’m choosing to trust that I will survive the the changes!

In the laws of nature, everything has a time it grows, rests and transforms. We can find peace in all seasons when we allow what is, to be as it is.

We can’t always be at the top or win every client or be the most popular. There will be seasons of decline and season of heights. The reality of consistency

. 🤔Consistency is a typical topic which is undervalued, underused and not effectively utilised when it comes to goal setting. There is generally a reason why people struggle with consistency. It’s monotonous and requires a level of self-control and discipline. That being said, I think everyone has the capacity to be consistent at something. Most of the time when people have issues with consistency their flaw is in the method.

. 👌To become consistent with anything such as food, study, exercise etc. It is necessary to look at how our brains process consistency and what does this mean. When we start and implement something new into our routine this is a very conscious effort. We have to actively prioritise and plan for the new activity. We have to sustain our attention more than other tasks because it is new to our neural circuitry. Our brain needs to mould to the new activity. This is why habits can take anywhere from 21-66 days to cement, however statistics minimally  correlate to the individual. Additionally, behavioural changes can take up to 18 months to solidify in our brains. What does this mean?

.🔹️ By simply doing every day your brains plasticity becomes more used to the activity. The activity such as counting macros or working out becomes a sub routine. We go into autopilot and the amount of conscious effort it takes to complete said task is minimised (until the skill level of the task is adapted). Here are some examples of how to manage consistency –

. 1. Use a diary and write everything down.

. 2. Use productivity graphs to act as a visual for how much work you are doing each day.
.
. 3. Prioritise planning. Too many people jump in without properly planning hence consistency lacks.

. 4. Tell others what you are doing and live up to said expectations acting as an external motivator.

. 5. Make sure the activity is meaningful, otherwise your just kidding yourself.

A little while ago I promised to try and bring up the Instagram positivity during winter... and then I got carried away running around, trying to squeeze the most out of 2018...
I think this has been one of the most important lessons though. You can have all the visions boards, goals, dreams and plans in the world, but unless you actually DO them, they won’t get you any closer to achieving them. One of the best tricks for this I’ve found is finding “mini actions” that help lead to the big goal- it makes it so much easier (and less scary).
And on that note, I’m back to finishing my presentation. There’s a lot to squeeze in to the end of this year, but I’ve a honeymoon at the end to look forward to! 🙌🏼

Ok so in usual me style - this year I consulted Feng Shui to find out the best place to position our tree.
The shape of a Christmas tree , a triangle , has powerful symbolic meaning in Feng Shui . This is the symbol of  wealth and where you position it can attract prosperity .
After some research I discovered the best place was the left corner of my upper floor . The fact that this would be the corner of my bedroom did to not appeal to me so I went back to the reading material only to discover the perfect spot ! The Fame area is located across from your front door. Triangular shapes displayed in these areas enhance finances, abundance, and prosperity.

Prior to my work at @jedfoundation  I used to be a Director of Counseling at a college.  I always get excited to be back on college campuses when I can.  This time I got to work with some students at @concordiany guiding them through a yoga flow, breathing techniques and tools for stress and anxiety.  One student said it was the first time in weeks she stopped and did some self care.  Treating our stress and anxiety doesn’t have one thing that is a cure all.  Just doing yoga won’t fix it.  It’s about finding your formula that works for you.  For me it has been yoga, breathing, on and off therapy, journaling, lots and lots of positive podcasts and books, and years of working on my inner critic, which still loves to pop out and be all negative every once in awhile. When we start awakening we start seeing people and things differently. We have a new lens. Those that aren’t on this journey yet, they only know what they’ve allowed themselves to know. Those that are awakening we need to see them where they are.

I speak for myself when I say I had no idea my life could be this rich and filled with so much peace, joy, abundance and love. I used to always be stressed out, doing things I didn’t want to do. Triggered daily. Living for the hustle.

I see those that suffer from rage, live purely for material things (it’s not bad to like nice things but things can only give you so much temporary happiness), living the hustle life, just medicating their issues with whatever distraction available. But they are suffering, depressed, no drive, just getting through the day.

But there is no desire for self-development or even spiritual growth. There’s no I want and need to get better. I was there. They think they have everything figured out, like a know it all. But really they only know what they know. They have nothing to change in their mind. The moment you trigger them they are on a rampage for blood. How dare you upset them. You see they have no control over their emotions. They lack inner peace.

It’s because they haven’t awakened yet and we need to be more patient and understanding. We too were once there. But that doesn’t mean we need to be shit on. Or take any bullshit. Because that’s allowing their unhealed toxic energy affect us. So no I’m not saying that.
