Holding pads can be daunting for beginners, but it is such an art in itself.
Holding pads allows you to refine techniques, work on distance, accuracy, work on defence.
You can train your own eyes to look for openings in your partner / “opponent.” And you can improve your skills by teaching and making corrections when working with an open minded training partner.
There are so many benefits to holding pads, but it takes time and experience to get good at it.
If you look in my bio, you will find a LINKTREE link, that will direct you to a small instructional playlist on how to hold pads.
Here we cover the general ideas on how to hold pads.
For the specifics, please refer to your coach. Enjoy!

Well done to kickboxing instructor Mike Edmonds from Bexhill for being awarded his embroidered SAMA kickboxing black belt. These belts are awarded to experienced kickboxing instructors that teach their own classes and have shown great commitment to the club...
This is something Mike has done for many years with SAMA...as well as teaching he has also fought in full contact fights in the ring...
His belt was presented by the SAMA Chief Instructor. Well done again to Mike for his achievement!
Wow what a day yesterday was! Promoted to 1st Degree black belt under Master Hutton VIII🙏🏼 all four of us smashed the grading and it was actually enjoyable😂
This time last year I had never imagined I would be feeling on top of the world, to those who attempted to put myself and my Taekwon-Do club down... Thank you! Thank you for giving us all the courage, bravery, confidence and drive to prove you all wrong. We won! 💛🖤 #taekwondo#clublee#itf#tkd#itftkd#tkditf#martialarts#team#family#grading
Got my old escrima sticks out last night. Hadn't trained with them for so long. The two black ones are weighted and padded plastic, the middle one is lightweight rattan, and the two bottom ones with the case are bamboo. Trained for a good hour and a half with the padded sticks and the rattan stick. Felt good to get back into the weapon training.

I got the pleasure to photograph my friend @gingabredman426 . I will be honest this shoot didn’t go as plan it was a crazy day and I forgot a lot of my equipment and I had to improvise with what I had. I am still happy with the results and it was a good learning experience of what to do when everything does not go according to plan.
