Have you ever noticed that you often create content for the people approving your work, not those who need to hear from your experience, lessons and advice? We can get so caught up in likes, views, traffic, creating aesthetic pleasing feeds and followers that we lose our audience and sometimes we lose our purpose.

Lately I’ve been taking this all in again. I try and post content predominately that speaks to my ideal clients, but the noise and vanity metrics of social media can distract me. These past few days I’ve been reviewing my strategy, putting myself into my ideal client’s shoes and trying to understand them more intimately and reassessing how I communicate online so I am speaking to the people I want to attract.

This may mean I won’t get as many likes or followers but that’s okay. My business isn’t for everyone and I’m not trying to attract everyone.

This is why you should consider working on your value proposition instead of just pushing your product or service out to market.

The process of working on your value proposition gives you the opportunity to consider things from your target customer’s point of view. What do they see as the best experience when it comes to using or purchasing your GENRE of product or service? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then what can you do in terms of shaping YOUR product or service or the experience your customers get when they come to you to reach that ideal - and stand out from your competitors because they are not doing it?

Grab a pen and paper and take 10 - 15 mins to yourself. On one side list what you believe your customer's ideal is. Then on the other, come up with ways that you can achieve that ideal for them.

Then run it by some customers who you trust and whose opinion you value to see what they think.

Deciding on the answer before you know the question is as usesless as using a hammer with screw. You might think you're getting somewhere but all your really doing is making useless whole and a ton of wasted effort.

That is what most business marketing strategies and efforts look like. They try to come up with answers before they even know what the question is.

I’ll share my experience how do I make SEO after all objectives defined.

A) Fine-tuning of all technical issues: time of response, clean code, no 4xx/5xx, etc). For this stage I prefer a pro guy or agency, but if they’ve done good job - no need to continue very often.

B) Relevant content - that’s main space for marketers. Begin with proper H1/H2/T/D and go through consumer journey answering their questions with proper content. No matter is it your company website or other important forum or social network.
.
C) Don’t be lazy - follow your customers. Not just through GA but watching their visits. For me checking clients visits - it’s a funny game to relax when I drink coffee for example. But in the end after seeing 50/100/500 visits the trends become very clear. Then make your changes -> see new statistics -> enjoy better behavior figures.

But main thing I want to mention - SEO is not about just  being first in Google (which is great of course!) - but about increasing chances for long-term customer relations.
.
Invest your time and skill into a website or Facebook group, so your target audience want to come again or recommend their friends - that’s best SEO-strategy for me.
