HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR LIVER?
Simple steps, like removing certain items, and adding in certain foods can go a long way to starting your liver support journey.
Some possible options to start with.
Problematic foods for the liver. Limit or avoid when trying to support your liver health.

- Apply directly over your right-side ribs, just below the breast, extending about an inch or so below your ribs. Front and back.

Your typical detoxes are often marketed to help you lose weight quickly. They do not focus on supporting your liver and digestion (which is essential to actually detox). -
That’s where the issue is. If you want to drink shakes/juice to lose a bunch of weight quickly that’s fine, but it’s likely not actually supporting detox and that is not what I’m about. -
I want to support my liver and the 3 phases of detox that are occurring. -
On another note, did you know that we store toxins in our fat? Maybe there is a reason that your body doesn’t want to lose a lot of weight quickly. Maybe you’re storing a lot of toxins that your body isn’t ready to deal with.
Here’s what your body needs to support the different phases of detox: 🔹
Phase 1 detox nutrient needs:
•Vitamins B2, B3, B6. B12, A, C, E
Phase 2 detox nutrient needs:
•Amino acids (glutamine, glycine, taurine, cysteine)
•Sulfur containing foods (onions, garlic, cruciferous veggies)
Supporting Digestion as Phase 3 of Detox:
It’s great to support the detoxification of toxins in the body but the most important part is getting rid of them. You have to poop at least once everyday always but especially during a detox. -
You also need to make sure your digestive system is functioning properly so you can break down your food and get the needed nutrients. I love @urbanmoonshine digestive bitters for support with this. -
I also think it is essential to also support your mind during a detox, which is why it’s a huge focus for my 10 day program. I will talk more about that next week! -

Liver rescue salad on Day 5 of the 3-6-9 liver cleanse 🥗 We were up early and on the road to Bend to watch Kennedy play in the semi-finals. While traveling it can be a challenge to find the right foods to stay on track, so I made sure to pack my juicer, celery, apples, dates, teas, and lots of liver rescue salad. The first 3 days of this cleanse have been very easy. Day 4 and 5 have been a bit more challenging. I am feeling hungry a lot, so my system must be needing the fuel that these healing fruits and vegetables bring. Holidays are coming.
And because of that, it’s actually a really good time to think about self care. Why? It's that time of year when there more parties, more rich foods, more alcohol, and more late nights. More family, more expectations, a little bit more of everything. It's also a really easy time to put to the side the daily healthy habits we tend to focus more on at other times of the year.

Our livers have a BIG JOB and when they get overwhelmed because all the toxins that we inundate them with build up, then our bodies do not detox like they should! In fact, compounds that are inflammatory will become MORE INFLAMMATORY & get recirculated into our blood stream when our livers are on overload (a common problem in our modern day society!!!). What to do?? 1) Become aware of toxins in your environment (your home, the cleaning products you use, body care, make up, ingredients in food & drinks, etc.) and switch things up for better, less toxic products.
2) Address gut dysbiosis (leaky gut). This common problem will overtax the liver by allowing even more foreign substances into the liver, once again, overworking this important organ. This can lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
3) Clean up your diet! Sugar and processed foods all add to the workload of our liver. These are major culprits in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
4) Eat liver loving foods! Cruciferous veggies contain glucosinolates that support the liver in its functions, and help it filter and detoxify the blood! (Broccoli, cauliflower, kale, brussels sprouts, cabbage...) 5) Clean up your medicine cabinet!

I’ve been starting my mornings with warm lemon water with a little ginger in it and it’s been a game changer for my digestion.
Here’s how to do it >>> put the juice of 1/2 a lemon and fresh grated ginger into a mug. Pour hot water over the juice and ginger and sip first thing in the morning before breakfast.
Drinking hot lemon water on an empty stomach had several benefits - it improves digestion, supports liver detoxification, hydration, supports the immune system, and more. Ginger root is anti-inflammatory, settles the stomach and has cold fighting properties.

In order to ensure that we are absorbing fat properly and excreting excess or toxic hormones our liver produces a substance called bile. Bile is a soap like substance released by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. Bile salts emulsify the fats from our food to help us absorb fat and fat soluble vitamins A,D,E,K efficiently. 💜

CAULIFLOWER CHOWDER 💥
This is one of my all time favorite go to soups! I make it multiple times a month 🤣. It’s quick, tasty, and full of veggies. It’s so comforting for all those fall winter vibes and a great source of fat and protein. Here’s the recipe! .
1 head of cauliflower
2 tbsp minced garlic
3 celery stalks
5 cups of broth (I usually add in some bone broth)
6 slices of bacon
1.5 cup of coconut milk
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp turmeric
1.5 tsp salt (I use @redmondrealsalt )
1tsp black pepper .
I usually start by baking the bacon. Sauté the diced onion, carrots, celery and minced garlic in pot for 5-7min. Add in chopped cauliflower cook for 5 min. Add in broth, coconut milk and seasonings. Bring to a boil- then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for 15 minutes. Garnish with dill to taste, and mix in the sliced bacon. Go get a cozy blanket and watch your fav show with your fav person 😘
I’ve been on a “love your liver” kick because taking care of your liver makes such a difference in your overall wellness. I used to deal with chronic, unexplained itching (no rash, just excessive itching). No one could explain it and no one could fix it. Until I found out that itching was a telltale sign that your liver was struggling. I started using this blend of dandelion and milk thistle for liver support and low and behold, the itching stopped! We want to make sure that everyone knows how important your liver is. It is the 'guy behind the curtain' keeping things running smoothly on it's own.
But since it's so independent, it gets forgotten about. Your liver is on the job working tirelessly every minute of the day. It is keeping you safe from the daily toxins, foods, chemicals, imbalances, pathogens (just to name a few) that you come in contact with on a daily basis.
It does it's job well, but if we are lacking awareness to the constant stress it is under, and continue to be exposed to toxins, etc without reprieve, it may/will exhaust. ~
In more prolonged cases it may end up with disease itself, sluggish liver, fatty liver, or overall weight gain, etc.
We can even pass along our liver toxins to our children in utero, so some may be born with work to do on their livers at young ages.
