Tonight we present jazz duo CJ Nicolai & Larry Wegner
A note from CJ:
"Larry Wegner and I have been performing together nearly nine years now. We first met and started collaborating at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret, where we still take the stage on a regular basis. From those cabaret roots grew a fantastic creative partnership which has now evolved into our upcoming EP and album.
We share a deep appreciation of the Great American Songbook and of the music of decades past. In our performances, we love to deliver both the well-known-and-loved standards, and also the lesser known gems, some surprises, and other exciting things that I can’t tell you about just yet! Larry’s sensitive and inventive piano skills are the perfect vehicle for the vocals I love to deliver — inspired by, but never mimicking, Ella, Sarah, Billie, and the legends we all still sigh over." .
So excited for the @rooftoprevival show at @paliwinecola tonight 8-10p...reuniting with our old neighbors, the rooftop gardeners and culinary artists of @chineselaundrytruck !
This night of wine and noodles will feature @cali_struttin (sax) & @bubbabergen (bass/vocals)! 811 Traction Ave. 90012 📷: Sylvia Borgo
The opportunity to be challenged and pushed toward becoming a better artist isn’t something you find every day. We’re only two months into our time together, but I have such gratitude for @katereidjazz and Extensions for giving me such an opportunity. Plus, it’s a helluva lot of fun sharing a stage with these cats.

Popped back into San Diego briefly today to check on things at @covolajolla in preparation for a weekend of great music here: Friday night we have Katleen Dugas @katleendugas and Saturday, Jillian Calkins @jill.calkins (apologies for mispronunciation of your last name Jillian!). Both shows are free and they start at 8 pm! It’s been a BIG week for me, yes first film, but also now officially, I am the music director here at COVO! So excited to be a part of this incredible venue where we welcome all kinds of genres of music, not just jazz! Contact me for more information on what’s coming up and how you can be a part of it!
