With most illnesses and injuries，the first thing that comes to our mind is to lie in bed and get some rest，maybe even lounge on the couch and watch some netflix - let the body do its thing to heal. .
Unfortunately，resting - i.e. lying in bed for a long time or sitting for more than 30 minutes can do the opposite and stiffen up our lower back even more. Don't get me wrong.. Relative rest is good - meaning you dont want to be lifting heavy items when your lower back is acutely sore. But you definitely want to get it moving with some gentle mobility exercises and you'll start to notice the lower back feeling looser.
In the longer term though，mobility exercises wont be enough，you would want to start strengthening the lower back with some resistance training to reduce the likelihood of the lower back injury happening again

Another weekend = another course. These two amazing practitioners next to me, @drhanslindgren and @luke.khoury have had such a massive influence myself and my work. I can't imagine where I would be today without meeting either one of them.
'Thanks' is truely not enough to express just how appreciative I am for how much they have helped me grow as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. I just hope that one day I will be as knowledgeable as they are and have the ability to pass down my knowledge to other practitioners the way they have done for me.

This is one of the easiest and most accessible way to get your exercise in, we do it almost everyday. For those who can, here are a few tips on how to incorporate extra walking into your daily activities: (1) Park farther away - don’t be afraid of a few extra steps; (2) Take the long route - forget the shortcuts, take the longest route you can find on campus; (3) Walk it out - feeling stressed? Take a walk!
Walking with a buddy will make it extra fun, you’ll forget you’re even walking to exercise! —

20 sec Plank
20 Jumping jacks
20 high knees (10 each side)
20 walking Lunges
20 squats (jump squats of feeling energetic!)
20 pushups (modified/on knees if needed)
20 bicycle crunches (10 each side)
20 jumping jacks
Takes less than 3 minutes a day, do it for 5 days in a row. Crank up your favorite song or do it while watching TV or in your office for a quick work break. NO excuses on why you can't do it - everyone has 3 minutes! Let me know how much better you feel better after doing it!
