We are in this one together just like before except now we are married. 20 years ago almost to the day, right before Christmas I was diagnosed with stage III colorectal cancer and my girlfriend was by my side through it all. Today, we just found out the biopsy results and the good news is its in the early stages and its treatable for early stage squamous cell carcinoma. I still don't have specifics on what early stages mean, but for the surgeon to already have me scheduled for the knife on Monday is both reassuring and scary. I have that empty butterflies feeling and trying to keep this in perspective. We have a consult tomorrow and will know more. Whereas my treatable cancer 20 years ago was invisible to most, this one is smack middle of my nose and will most likely have a really big bandage for awhile. Most importantly, get yourself screened, know your body, early prevention is key. #CheckYourself#fcancer#youarenotAlone (photo #tb )
When I was 11 our teacher asked us to design a logo, trying to be clever I connected the letters of my intitials to form what is now my current logo. I don't think I got very good marks lol but it definitely stuck. All my paintings are signed with this logo from all those years ago :) #jmu#johnunasa#artist#artlife#logo#signature#branding#signed
Tis the season for giving! ❣️☕️ Another Resident has picked up their Starbucks gift card.
Only one more day left of finals, Residents! Rest assured bc that also means we have another day of treats. We hope EMU enjoyed our Vending Machine Crawl today.
We would like to thank Professor John Peterson in the School of Music for his assistance in designing creative accommodations solutions! You help make #JMU a welcoming place for people who have disabilities!

The joy of being done with what was probably the hardest semester of my life is hard to describe. For my last semester here, I took 17 credits, worked two jobs, and served as president of my sorority, which itself could be a full time job sometimes. I think I’ve averaged somewhere around 5-6 hours of sleep a night since September, I don’t remember the last full meal I cooked, and my coffee consumption has been dangerously high for someone of my height and general level of anxiety, but it was worth it because in two days I walk across that stage. 👩🏼🎓 Here’s to the future and whatever it holds. ✨ #twodays#jmu#jmulove#decembergrad
Happy Graduation Sam!! My cousins bff is graduating from @jamesmadisonuniversity this December and she asked me to illustrate this as one of her gifts! It’s been an honor to get to know her through various family get togethers and I wish you all the luck in the world Sam 🎓💕 #jmu#graduation#bestfriends#jamesmadisonuniversity
A big thank-you to our first donor in our Annual End of the Year Campaign in support of the @jmudcsemester Scholarship Fund! Catherine Crooks Hill graduated in 1989 as a PUAD major and POSC minor. She is also a past president of the Board and is based in Richmond. 💜💛 #JMU#POSC#BoardChallenge#WashingtonSemester
We hope everyone has had a wonderful semester and exam week is going smoothly! A big congratulations as well to all of our upcoming December graduates, including one of our botany interns, Cassie Stark - we sincerely thank you for all your hard work and wish you the very best post-graduation! 🎉
Party Rock Anthem comes on and instead of being at JMU at a party with all of my friends and a drink in my hand, I am in my kitchen dancing with my one year old in our pajamas and a teething necklace on. My how the times have changed 🍺➡️🍼 #JMU#alpharhos#momlife#misseleanormaitland#timewarp
Looking around Memorial Hall you can come across a class creativity project. This project stands out to us with the interpretations and authentic representations of what teaching looks like to the students, what they envision in their classrooms, and bringing awareness of issues that can be seen in schools! “Fear has no place in schools.” #jmuteachers#jmu#jmucoe
