Some 149,000 #Californians are effectively homeless after fleeing from the #Camp , #Woolsey and Hill fires, which have afflicted #ButteCounty , as well as #Ventura and LA counties and destroyed more than 6,700 homes and buildings, with thousands more expected to burn. And as the death toll hits 31, putting this round of wildfires on track to become the deadliest in the state’s history as more than 200 people remain missing, a picture of the total damages that have been wrought by the fires is beginning to emerge. According to Bloomberg, the state, insurers and homeowners could be on the hook for a combined $19 billion in damages.
Though that is a staggering sum, at least one analyst believes it’s a conservative estimate. To put it in context, #HurricaneHarvey caused more than $100 billion in total economic devastation when it slammed #Houston last year. Though the total sum could be on par with #HurricaneMichael , which slammed the #Florida panhandle and parts of the southeastern US last month. “The California fires are as bad as folks think they are,” said Chuck Watson, a disaster modeler at #EnkiResearch . He pegged the possible damages of about $25 billion once the fires have been put out and the total damage can be assessed. Insurance for fire-related damages is already becoming an issue.
Some 8,000 local, state and federal firefighters have arrived to battle the flames as hot, dry “devil winds” are set to persist for much of this week. Already, the #CampFire has destroyed more structures than any other #Californiawildfire since data collection began. Among the losses include dozens of celebrity-owned homes in #Malibu , where the Woolsey and smaller Hill fires are wreaking havoc. Up north, the entire town of #Paradise , Calif. has been leveled by the flames.
The blazes have spread to cover a combined 200,000 acres. Gov. Jerry Brown has asked #PresidentTrump to issue a “major disaster declaration” that would give California access to federal aid – though there’s a chance that Trump might be reluctant to release the money. 🖐🏾More in comments👇🏾 - #regrann
We had the opportunity to go to Clarksville, Florida and help out at a food distribution center this past Monday. It has been weeks after #hurricanemichael and pictures don’t do the destruction justice . While we were there one of the most requested items was laundry detergent. People are either having to go without or wash with what they have. This is causing rashes and allergic reactions which only adds to the discomfort of no power and limited supplies. With that being said, Rituals Day Spa has decided to have a detergent drive to help our Florida friends! You can drop off detergent at either location (smaller bottles and boxes preferred). Thank you so much in advance! *Another requested item is Hydrocortisone Cream for the rashes and bug bites.
Thank you Lord for a few moments today where we could help those hurting in Panama City from hurricane Michael. We love you for being our example to follow! We are praying for you all, and are looking forward to being around to keep serving

The hurricane was hard on our dear island. Finally got to see some of my island family this weekend. #hurricanemichael may have taken out Harry As, but we are #850strong ! I love these two people! @patrick.harryas @jmckenzie1209
This weekend we were supposed to go camping with friends at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. However, #HurricaneMichael had other plans. The beach and the park no longer accessible. •
So, we joined the Nature Club at Adelaide's school and went on their camping trip to Chehaw Park in Georgia. We were surprised at how hard they were hit too. They still have A LOT of clean up to do, but we slept amongst the fallen trees and smashed picnic tables and still had a good time.
https://www.gofundme.com/hurricane-michael-takes-everything sharing for my family who has been affected by hurricane Michael. My mother and sisters all lost their family homes and are all now homeless with my 6 little niece's. Any help would be greatly appreciated even if its just a share. I'll definitely be doing everything and anything I can to help my family get back on their feet a little bit and at least no longer homeless. #scenstyfamily#hurricane#hurricanemichael#family#help#gofundme (((-Hurricane Michael takes everything)))!! Can look up this cause on the GoFundMe page to read everything and see pictures to better describe the situation :(
I love when people turn their struggles into a platform to level up! I want everyone around me to win. I’m so happy right now. Today is just Monday and I have already completed 3 Business registrations and strategy sessions (plans) with three #HurricaneMichael survivors who refused to let it stop their progress! So what’s your excuse for not striving for the next level?

Hello! I am alive, honestly I have craved makeup so much over this past month and you have no clue how good it feels to have my makeup back. So for those of you who don’t know I live in Florida and on October 10th one of the worst hurricanes in the US hit my city and boy did it hit hard. I was truly lucky I only lost my bedroom, but for others they have lost everything, it is still so unbelievable to walk outside and see how much went down. Everyday I see trees big and small that just snapped like twigs and it’s truly devastating down here in FL. The full day of the storm was terrifying, I felt my house lift in the air and slam back down, I was so scared and that night was insane too. No one had power, not a single light was on for miles and I will forever remember getting an hour of sleep due to pure terror. This entire experience has left me with a new vision on life and what I truly want to do. I have focused so much on what others think and I really shouldn’t because at any moment a huge hurricane can come and kill us all. I truly don’t see the point in hate and negativity anymore because we only have such a short time on this planet and I know I sound like every other crazed soccer mom out there but is there truly a point? Let’s make our lives count, #ScrewHurricaneMichael lets help one another we all need it. -
Operation Blessing volunteers are still working hard in Florida aiding families impacted by #HurricaneMichael . As we approach the holiday season, will you continue to keep these storm victims in your prayers? Many are still picking up the pieces of their lives after Michael tore through their community.
