Increased cost of oil and the strength of U.S. dollar forced Nestle and Unilever to steadily raise their prices to remain profitable. Nestle’s Q3 sales increased by 2.9%—which includes a 0.9% boost from price increases. Additionally, Unilever reported 3.8 sales increase, driven 1.4% by pricing. .
Consumer-goods companies must reasonably balance their pricing and demand to refrain loyal consumers from rebounding to cheaper alternatives. Both Unilever and Nestle are expected to steadily increase their prices into Q4. Nestle stock is down 0.08% to $79.50, while Unilever dropped 1.88% to $52.70. .
