As I stood in line tonight at Seattle Central Library for Ben Rhodes to sign my copy of THE WORLD AS IT IS (A Memoir of the Obama White House), the woman in front of me said to help her sleep after the 2016 election she thought of rainbows and unicorns. “But it didn’t work. So I switched to fantasizing body dismemberment of certain individuals. That worked.” Rhodes gives a wonderful testament to the power of hope in dealing with frustrations of our current political world, without dreams of violence. It’s a beautiful book about his nearly 10 years with what he, and I, believe history will rank as one of our greatest presidents and the conviction that “history doesn’t move in a straight line, it zigs and zags” and ultimately bends toward justice. So many political memoirs theses days. This one ranks among the best. Florangela Davila, managing editor of Crosscut, did a great job interviewing Rhodes. #benrhodes#theworldasitis#memoiroftheobamawhitehouse#randomhouse @randomhouse #penguinrandomhouse @penguinrandomhouse #memoir#politicalmemoir#barackobama#44#seattlepubliclibrary @seattlepubliclibrary @steshasweettart #elliottbaybookco @elliottbaybookco #hopeandchange#hopespringseternal#hope#crosscutnews @crosscut_news @florangelad #caroles2018authorevents
ICE said the Family Case Management Program, which cost the government $36 dollars a day, was too expensive compared to other monitoring methods.
Instead, the government is paying a half billion to incarcerate those seeking asylum. What do you say about that #fact , Trump supporters? -
Under the program, families who passed a credible fear interview and were determined to be good candidates for a less-secure form of release — typically vulnerable populations like pregnant women, mothers who are nursing or moms with young children — were given a caseworker who helped educate them on their rights and responsibilities. The caseworker also helped families settle in, assisting with things like accessing medical care and attorneys, while also making sure their charges made it to court.
“It was really, really cost efficient compared to family detention or family separation,” Katharina Obser, a senior policy adviser for the Women's Refugee Commission's Migrant Rights and Justice program, said.
According to The Associated Press, cost the government $36 per day per family. By the end, it served 954 people in total, according to a 2017 Department of Homeland Security Inspector General report.
Addiction is characterized by inability to consistently abstain, impairment in behavioral control, craving, diminished recognition of significant problems with one’s behaviors and interpersonal relationships, and a dysfunctional emotional response.
Think about that. Man oh man, that is me.
I’ve been an aggressive alcoholic, I’ve been a hopeless dope fiend, I’ve been a pothead of epic proportion, I’ve been barred out for months at a time... keyword is “been,” past tense.
I’ve BEEN all those things and more, but now... in health and happiness as a sober individual I am STILL an addict.
Every day I must be aware & active in establishing & maintaining balance in my life. Because if I like doing something then there’s no reason I won’t like doing it too much.
I’m always working to be my happiest because I’m always working to stay sober.
I absolutely support any player, or person for that matter, that uses their God given (don't need an amendment to say how I feel) right to express themselves in any manner they see fit.......but there are countless stories about how none of these folks will go sit and talk with Trump. If you won't go sit and talk with him, why would he pay attention to you? And it goes beyond the NFL. Remember the story where #meekmill was going to a prison reform summit but #jayz talked him out of It? Please tell me what that accomplishes. And quick reminder for all the misinformation spreaders out there, president #hopeandchange 's administration said no to #alicejohnson 3 separate times, while the racist Nazi ignored his justice department's recommendations and corrected a wrong. Let that sink in.
"The politics of failure have failed. We need to make them work again. I am looking forward to an orderly election tomorrow, which will eliminate the need for a violent blood bath." || #humpday#cdnpoli#yeswecan#hopeandchange #🇨🇦 #🇧🇲
This man far exceeded my already high expectations of what a thoughtful, respectful, passionate leader should be. The @ctr4chr picked an excellent honoree and I was honored (and tbh totally star struck) to have the opportunity to hear him talk. Thank you @vp44 for reminding me that whenever America falls down, she gets up stronger than before. I’ve been needing some of that #hopeandchange . #LivingTheLegacy
“Promises made, Promises kept”: After 18 months in office & waist deep in the #DeepState#Swamp , President @realdonaldtrump continues to make the grade by keeping his #CampaignPromises . The swamp is deep & thick with the muck of #Corruption so any progress is indeed a miracle.
Many politicians have made promises to their supporters claiming that if elected, they will ride into Washington #DC & get things done. The common result usually is they ride into the swamp & sink slowly into the depths & their promises are forgotten until the next election cycle.
#Trump is keeping his promises. He is up to his chin in the murk of the swamp. The Deep State Swamp is fighting for its survival and will do anything to win. “Trust the plan.” Who made the grade? Who didn’t? #HopeAndChange ? How those words ring hollow now. Did we get “Hope”? No, We got despair. Did we get “Change”? Yes, change for the worse. Promises made, #Lies kept.
Now, there is “Hope” and we see “Change” for the better every week. And if you look very closely, you can see the Swamp is slowly starting to drain. #TinaToonTuesday @grrrgraphics www.grrrgraphics.com

Happy May 1st!
I can't believe it is already here. These last few weeks have been busy and a time of growth in many ways. I am looking forward to all that is coming in this month!
What are you looking forward to in May? 🌻🌷
Zuccotti Park in New York was the site of the Occupy Wall Street protests. I was shocked when it happened and convinced that a protest so close to the beating heart of capitalism would be crushed instantly and cast aside by our culture as naive dreaming. So I didn't go and truly regretted it for years. It forced me to recognize how easy it is for the common good to be ignored without a common conversation. I also recognize how "pointless" it can feel to fight against seemingly faceless and intractable problems like income inequality and the warping of economy to serve the robber baron classes. What's the point of protesting is the wrong question, it should be 'why am I not?'. #occupywallstreet#wearethe99percent#hopeandchange#zuccottipark
