Client Julie working her single leg dead lift. I sometimes struggle to help clients understand how to keep the non supporting leg/hip active through the extension phase of SLD. Using a dowel stick applying downward pressure into the foot and also upward pressure from the foot up into the dowel whilst doing the SLD assists in this but also is a great external que for those who struggle to achieve hip hinge movement, having the dowel present allows the hinge (hips pushing backward) to occur without too much instruction as the positioning of the dowel makes the movement hinge biased.

Using a ball, pen etc 
Stand with feet under hips hinge at the hip (like a door) pushing glutes out behind you and allowing your upper body to lower with movement. Tap your object to the outside of your foot, centre and then to the inside. Repeat for as many cycles as you can manage. 
My lovely client Claire on her 3 point Single Leg Deadlift. Continuing close focus developing further stability and strength  through her ankles, knees and hips after a torn ACL and Hamstring injury. So proud of her progress to this point!

In the middle of moving and trying to cook meals properly gets a little tricky. So in a fry pan dollop of coconut oil, tossed in Pak Choi, Kale, Cherry Tomatoes and packet of prawns. Seasoned with Butchers salt = the best little concoction created! (a mix of garlic, sea salt and parsley) and pepper!

Tonight is a New Moon, also being graced with a lunar eclipse. Whether you feel this phases, are a bit skeptical or are giving me a little eye roll (🙄😉) this is an amazing time to shed the old and bring in new intentions. Thankfully the weather decided to play ball and we ended up having near perfect conditions for this years #Walkwithme raising funds for #ActionAgainstCancer and #SueRyder hospice. Not surprisingly, given everything that's happened to me since the last time I did the walk in 2014, it meant that much more to me to support such a wonderful event and worthy causes. 
I knew in advance that I'd not done as much training as last time, so had to exchange 6:35 for 6:53, but was pleasantly surprised to come in under 7 at all and fairly pain free. Plus had so many interesting conversations with different #inspirational women that it made the #achinglegs worthwhile. 
Huge thank you to all who walked with me, all the team at #Walkwithme2017 for the AMAZING job that they do and the #HenleyPractice for the much needed massage at the finish!
