💔Rp @_veganviewpoint_ The difference between being vegetarian and being vegan is as simple as understanding that using animals for profit, even if not specifically for meat, inevitably leads to systemized animal cruelty.
• Cows only produce enough milk for their babies, like all mammals. Their milk is not meant for humans any more than pig milk or dog milk. The cycle of dairy starts by forcing a rod full of semen into a female’s vagina (this would be called rape if done to humans) every nine months. By doing this, she gets pregnant over and over and she keeps producing milk.
• One of the worst parts of this system is what is shown in the video- stealing a baby from its mother so that humans can collect the milk meant for that baby. Mother cows form strong emotional bonds with their young, and are heard crying out of anxiety for weeks after losing their babies.
•Male calves won’t produce milk, so they are sent to slaughterhouses, and are used for veal (flesh) or leather (skin).

My take on a daal this evening.
Chop an onion and cook on a low heat until translucent. Add a couple of crushed garlic cloves, chilli flakes, diced ginger, a couple of cloves, a cinnamon stick and a tsp of each mustard seeds and cumin. Let the mustard seeds pop.
Add lentils. Different ones bring a different flavour. But I've used yellow, green and a few urid beans. Because I could. I like the different textures. Cover with water and half a tin of coconut milk. Cook thoroughly - there's nothing worse than a powdery non-cooked lentil. Stir some fresh coriander through.
Serve with the tarka over the top. A separate pan with sliced onions, chilli and curry leaves in oil, cooked slowly and poured over the lentils.
I added the tomatoes for a fresh zing.

Tis’ the season for baking 🧁🍫 I was inspired by @cleaneatsbytay to whip up some muffins since I had a box of @simplemills in my pantry! I mixed in some blueberries and added some sliced almond on top for a crunch. These were so easy and quick to make (25 minutes) and they’re so yummy. El almuerzo de hoy mi amada alcachofa cocida, después partida en dos y puesta en parrillita. La ensalada de al lado tiene cogollos, manzana criolla, sauerkraut y lo que me quedaba del queso vegano con cúrcuma (Que a propósito duro bastante). 😋 La vinagreta simple: Mandarina, aceite de oliva, vinagre de manzana y syrup de dátiles. 👌🏼
