the taiyaKEY to my heart is good food!🗝 Besides their famous #korean shaved ice (which I’ve previously posted before!) they also sell soft serve-filled taiyakis (Japanese fish-shaped waffle cake)🎏 The cakes are soft & warm and are made fresh in house! The matcha ice cream itself was very smooth & had a strong, but not too overpowering green tea taste🍵 With the #taiyaki , you can fill it with either Nutella or Custard, to add a little bit more sweetness & flavor to your dessert! @bingsukaty is hands down my new favorite dessert place in Katy & by favorite, I mean that I’ve been here for two consecutive weekends... I think I’m obsessed🤩😂!! ✨9/10

Most of my family members dislike sweet desserts especially my younger brother. He rarely eats sweets. I wanted to impress him with a super light and airy cake for his birthday, but I knew if it had fondant he wouldn't even try it! .
So what kind of cake do you make for someone and an entire family who hates sweet desserts and cake?? CHIFFON!!
This cake is a bit time consuming because you have to make a merengue then fold it into your batter. Overmixing will cause the batter to deflate. So it's really important not to overmix.
The end result is a light, airy cake that's stable enough for layering and filling with strawberries, and fruit.
This type of cake is meant to be eaten the day it is made, not the day after. Freshness is key.
When I presented my brother with a slice of his cake he said 'It's good.'
As boring and emotionless as his answer was, knowing my brother and how he really thinks the proper translation and what he was really trying to say was that ''this cake is the bomb". Lol
As we come into the warmer months, the produce we are getting in is slightly changing 🍍🍉 We now have beautiful organic mangoes, pineapples, papaya and melons, which are replacing out-of-season apples. Other new additions include artichokes and yellow carrots 💛 Eating according to the seasons allows us to eat a diverse diet, which benefits our gut microbiota because we can grow a variety of good bugs, instead of letting a few species take over. Eating seasonal produce also feeds our vital energy because the produce has been freshly picked and has ripened on the tree/bush instead of being stored in cool rooms for months and losing it’s vitality. Not to mention it also saves a ton of greenhouse gases which are created when importing produce from overseas. 🥦🍌🥒🍈🥕🌽#supportlocal
Last night's tea.
A meal that the whole family actually enjoys. 👍👍
Chili mussels (minus all the chili) and crusty bread.
I think a major part of the attraction is fishing around the saucey soup for shells and scooping out the mussels. 😉 Eating mussels is messy business and best done outside.
