We had a great time at the Martha Stewart Wine & Food experience presented by USA Today, with unlimited food tastings, fine wine, craft beer and spirit tastings, and access to demonstrations and seminars. There was a demonstration from the queen herself, Martha Stewart and a meet and greet with her for VIP ticket holders.
The event opened at 12:00 pm for VIP and at 1:00 pm for Grand Tasting ticket holders. The event ended at 4:00 pm, but we ended up leaving around 3:00 pm.
Prices ranged from $65.00 (Grand Tasting) for presale tickets up to $250.00 (which included a gift bag packed with Stewart swag and wine and a meet and greet with Stewart herself) (A meet-and-greet package with chef Graham Elliott was also available for $180). I must say that there was plenty of food and spirits (remember, these are tastings so portions are small), although a couple of the most popular food samples ran out as early as 2:30 pm. There were approximately 35 food venues and 12 liquor stations. The lines for food were not really that long, the longest time I waited was approximately 12 minutes for hand rolled sushi rolls from Sushi San, made right there in front of us. The drinks stations at first, had short lines, as the day progressed, the lines were considerably longer. There was even musical entertainment upstairs by Brett Wiscons.
All in all, it was a great way to sample food from local restaurants, and enjoy a drink and an afternoon with family or friends in one of the iconic locations in Chicago, Soldiers Field.
So I've decided to move slightly away from low carb, whilst still continuing to choose low carb options as much as possible, i just want to broaden my food choices a bit more. Mainly to include alot more fruit and vegetables with some low gi grains and legumes too. This was lunch today at work, soooo good! 34g carbs, meat free veggie stack! 1 slice burgen wholemeal & seeds bread toasted, with garlic hommus, sauteed garlic cherry tomates and a portobello mushroom, marinated chilli and garlic eggplant, spinach and rocket and feta cheese. No we dont have a 5 star kitchen at work lol I prepped all this at home and just arranged it at work. Despite the fact that Sachili products are cuisine agnostic (sorry but it’s the simplest way to explain how you can literally dollop/sprinkle on ANYTHING 😊!!), tacos are definitely one of my favs. .
It was a busy weekend but it took me little to no time to whip up these corn tacos with black beans, pickled cabbage, corn, chicken (you can easily swap with sweet potato), fresh coriander and Sachili (I used both condiment and spice!!)

I made a rice salad using a combination of basmati rice & black rice mixed through with broccoli, asparagus, mushrooms, kidney beans, red pepper, celery and red onions.
Flavoured with a homemade dressing of olive oil, chilli powder, seeded mustard, red wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, and fresh lemon thyme herb 🌿 plucked from our own veggie garden.
Garnished with toasted pine nuts for the crunch factor 😊

If I was left in charge of dinner every night it would always be breakfast.... mostly just because I can’t cook much else. But I do know how to make a mean slightly healthy chocolate chip pancake.
In blender mix:
• 2 medium/large bananas
• 1 tbsp chia seeds
• 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
• 1/4 cup of egg whites
• 1 tsp vanilla
• just over 2/3 cup of oats
• 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (we love chocolate so this might be a bit much so try with less unless you like a chip or two with each bite)
Once mixed you should be able to pour still. These are even good the next day cold or heated up as a snack.
Heston’s Part 2. This is one sequel that is just as good as the first, if not better (so basically on par with Terminator 2 and Wayne’s World 2). It’s hard to top the first post when the hero pic is that Meat Fruit - but I think we’ve got a strong contender with this dessert, which was “Strawberry Crust” - toasted vanilla cake with compressed strawberries, native basil, pepper berry ice cream and strawberry juice 😍 Certainly put a Paddle Pop to shame. By the time dessert came round we were about 100 wines deep and I resembled a Swiss ball, but we powered through and gave it our all. It was rude not to when it was such a special occasion, @vickersprice birthday. Honestly if you can’t go all out and gorge your face off for your birthday, when can you? The only issue with that is that we technically act like it’s our birthday every single day. But no regrets. This will probably turn into a series because it was all so good. Guess what shouldn’t intimidate you?? JAMS!!! It’s been my “jam” recently, because they are SO easy to make and you can get really creative! Fruits can really add delicious complexity to your dish, but making it into a jam and adding fresh herbs or other flavors really elevate what you’re making! I hadn’t even planned to add this to my eclairs today, but after I had one, I felt like the basil ricotta filling could use a lift! Chickpea pancakes 🙌🏻
Haven’t made one of these in a while and was desperately wanting one for lunch today but didn’t have anything exciting to top it with 🙃
So here’s a throwback to this loaded one I made a while back topped with leftover roast veggies and crispy roasted chickpeas - so good 🙌🏻
STUFFED TURKEY ROLL
3/4 c raw cashews
2 c water
1/4 c nutritional yeast flakes
1 tsp sea salt
1 T Chicken like seasoning
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 c vital gluten flour
2 T whole wheat flour
1 recipe of cooked stuffing (listed in a previous recipe)
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Blend all ingredients except gluten flour, whole wheat flour and stuffing until smooth. Mix gluten flour & whole wheat flour in a large bowl. Pour blended mixture into gluten flour mixture. Mix and knead until it holds together. Cut parchment paper into 15 inch x 20 inch. Lay it on the countertop. Put gluten on the parchment paper and spread out to make 10 inch x 14 inch size. Put cooked stuffing in the middle. Cover the stuffing with the turkey gluten and make the roll. Wrap the turkey gluten with parchment paper before you wrap it in the foil. Bake for 1 1/2 hours. When done, unwrap, and slice 1 inch thick and serve with your favorite gravy.

A VEGAN PAVLOVA!!!! 🍓🍒🥝I didn’t know it was possible, I’ve been looking for an egg white alternative for months!!! 🥚And then came....aquafaba!!! Which = chick pea juice!!!!!! Seriously, a can of cooked chickpeas, low or no sodium, drain the chickpeas and that liquid is aquafaba!!!! And you legit put it in the beater and it blows your freaking mind!!!! Just like egg whites, stiff peaks start forming and then you add your sugar, and it’s glossy and beautiful!! And the finished product’s taste is pretty dead on actually!!!! So say hello to my first vegan pavlova, I’m so happy with it 😍😍😍 and you can see the magic for yourself in the story 👆👆👆

#whatsonmyplate : roasted sweet potatoes in the airfryer, i put some olive oil and herbes de provence on top before to cook it, them smashed one avo add salt and pepper plus lemon juice, some cherry tomatoes. And DONE! So easy and so TASTY! I highly recommend it!

Dans mon assiette : des patates douces cuites dans un airfryer @philips.france ( mon meilleur ami ♥️ je l'utilise pratiquement everyday!) j'ai mélangé les rondelles de patates douces dans de l'huile d'olive et des herbes de provence avant de les enfourner.
De l'avocat écrasé avec du jus de citron, poivre et sel rose d'himalaya! Des tomates cerises! Et Voilà c'est déjà prêt!
