Of course I had to stop by @firestonewalker while driving through Paso Robles 🦁🍺🐻
Ordered up a sample of their (L to R) Pivo Pils hoppy pilsner, Generation 1 unfiltered West Coast IPA, Unfiltered DBA oak fermented British pale, and Bretta Rosé wild ale fermented with raspberries.
The Generation 1 was a ridiculously good IPA that's a little bit West Coast and a little bit NE-style—super clean but also noticeably juicy. It's also a limited release so I just had to take a crowler home! My plan is to save it for my birthday but there's a decent chance it won't survive past tonight 😁 #beerbeforeglory
A magically delicious nitro now on tap! It's Nitro Merlin Milk Stout from @firestonewalker! Stop in and give it a try! You'll love this!
Notes from the Brewer:
COLOR: 65 SRM
FERMENTATION: 100% Stainless Steel Fermentation
The new ingredient is lactose, a.k.a. milk sugar. When Velvet Merlin is brewed with milk sugar to create Nitro Merlin Milk Stout, the effect is similar to adding cream to your dark roasted coffee. The result is a stout that is still dark and roasty, but now with a mellow sweetness and added roundness of body.
The wizardry comes via “nitro,” the brewing nickname for nitrogen gas. A nitro beer contains more nitrogen gas and less carbon dioxide (CO2) gas compared to a traditional beer. The signatures of nitro beers are brilliant clarity in the glass; thick, long-lasting foam; and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel—all qualities that accentuate and enhance the classic milk stout character.
Join Firestone Walker Brewing Company for a pint night featuring the new Luponic Distortion IPA Rev. 10 and Babylon Rockers for an Irie evening of beer and Island Roots Rock Reggae. See you at 7pm tonight!
