The Kairaouine University dates back to the 9th century – making it one of the oldest surviving universities in the world. This is the Bou Inania Medersa, sitting in the tangle of car-free streets that make up ancient Fez. @kenkochey #fez#morocco#vacation#mcttravel
So the only nice thing about this photo is the colour palette. The rest is actually 🤢. We visited the ‘tanneries’ in Fez which is where they clean, dye and dry the animal hides. This specific photo is the cleaning phase - the hide is cleaned in ammonia which is the chemical that also strips the hair off the skin 🤭. From here they move to the dying phase which pigeon poo, cow urine and all sorts is used to colour the hides. It smelt absolutely horrendous but I’m always up for learning 💁🏽♀️👃🏽❌
