Holy Diver! The NES was my first system but I didn’t get it until after the Snes was out. This is the first brand new NES game I have ever bought and I am excited. I picked it up from @castlemaniagames this is the first English release the game has received and 30 years after the Japanese version. #nes#nintendo#classicgaming#retrogaming#holydiver#retro#repro @8bitretro #gaming#famicom
Rockman 5: Blues no Wana!? / ロックマン5ブルースの罠!?
AKA: Mega Man 5
After Rockman 4 raised the bar for ambitious level design, the fifth installment of the series follows suit, even if its changes to the core mechanics aren't quite as drastic as in the previous two installments. The Rock Buster has received yet another upgrade, as now it can be charged even longer to fire a devastating wave, even in Rock's default form. Rush makes his return yet again, albeit without his Marine ability. There's an additional piece of movement tech in the Arrow with also doubles as a weapon, and an optional hidden weapon in the form of Beat, Rockman's pet bird, who can only be acquired after finding letters spread out across the first eight stages. The interactive stage gimmicks return from the fourth game. Some of the highlights are Gravity Man's stage, featuring portions of the background that'll switch the gravity in either direction, or the autoscrollers that are found in multiple points, including a jet-bike section over water in Wave Man's stage, serving as a bit of a shmup segment, or the vertical spike-filled climb in Gyro Man's stage. Before taking on Wily's castle, you'll have it make it out of the Darkman stages, which are themselves fun and tricky, but sadly feature disappointing bosses; the Darkman robots aren't much bigger than Rockman himself, and utilize basic attack patterns. A huge downgrade from the giant bosses encountered in Rockman 4's Cossack stages. Thankfully the Wily stages and bosses themselves are a return to form, and end the game on a good note. In terms of weapon selection, things are not handled quite as competently as those in the fourth game - the Star Crash is a much less useful shield than the Skull Barrier, and the Power Stone might be the most useless weapon in the whole series. On the bright side there's still some inventiveness found in the controllable Gyro Attack, the Crystal Eye which explodes into pieces, and the Charge Kick which is a useful melee attack, rendering Rock's slide invulnerable. Rockman 5 is a slight downgrade from the fourth game in my book, but still brought some worthy additions to the table.
By signing in to the eShop with a Japanese account, you can enjoy the Famicom! Not too much different, but seeing the OG controllers and fancy box art is really nice... Plus, the difference in quality of the Zelda music is really sweet, fun, and refreshing to listen to. All you need to so is to log in with a Japanese account (or make a new one with Japan as the region), open the eShop, and scroll down to find the app. No new purchase of service required! #pokemon#zelda#thelegendofzelda#hyrulefantasy#hyrule#link#ganon#famicom#NES#NintendoSwitch#Nintendo
Golf (NES - Nintendo - 1984 - FRA)
I really love the black box design of the early NES titles. I bought this one in 2012 at Gamespirit in order to have a reference for the cover of my yet-to-come comic book « Basse Def » (´Low Rez’ in English). I wanted it to be as close as possible to a real NES black box and it helped me calibrate the title and the layout a lot. It could have been Soccer or anything else really, but the shop only had two different NES black box games at that time, and Golf was one of them. Beside that, I’m not a great fan of golf in general, but I guess I had to justify myself!
I had some water damage a month ago or so. This began the process of reorganization and catalog of my entire collection for insurance purposes and peace of mind (And to keep me from buying another copy of the same #finalfantasy game). This is is my last tote of about 15 and it may be the most random assortment. I still have plenty of consoles and strategy guides at my old house but that can wait. Happy collecting and my I recommend keeping a running list there's no way I could have come up with any documentation for homeowners to pay out. #retrocollective#Nintendo#NES#Famicom#GBA#Gameboy # WiiU#Pokemon#DBZ#Atari#VHS#SEGA#DreamCast#Genesis#Sony#PSP
