Driving through the mountains, we stumbled upon this zip line. My first thought was, YASSSSS. 😍 My second thought was... uh-oh, my back (still in PT from a car accident)... 😬 Happily, going down “Superman” style put very little strain on me, and was seriously such a THRILL!
For those who voted in my insta-story poll... you’re dern right, I went twice! 😂❤️ (It’s hard to see the further away I get, but the zip line went all the way to the road!)
P.S. You can probably hear them, but I had a literal swarm of Romanian twenty-somethings watching this whole process. 😂👌🏻
Caraiman Monastery 🇷🇴
Is located in the scenic town of Busteni, in the Prahova Valley of Romania. It’s backdropped by the incredible Bucegi mountains, part of the Carpathians. On top of the mountain in Busteni, there is a cross, the “Heroe’s Cross”, which overlooks the town and was built to commemorate the railway heroes who died in WWI.
Rasnov Citadel 🇷🇴
Initially built by Teutonic Knights, later on, the fortification was enlarged by the Saxon population in the area. Today, it has more than 30 houses inside, a chapel, a school and other buildings.
Still round the corner there may wait, a hidden door or a secret gate... 🍂🍁
Love how everyone still keeps these ancient gates as the entryway to their homes here in Transylvania. Wood that was carved by their grandparents and great-grandparents, not discarded by the new generations, but treasured as reminders of what was endured, and what is still standing today.
