Followed up by a spontaneous shopping trip to get cracking on Christmas shopping, I’m already starting to feel festive, any one else? 🎄
Personally I prefer more firm bread as it fills much better than the fluffy kind. So when I saw this recipe by @aliceeatsgrass I just had to try it. It's a nice firm loaf with lots of seeds. I replaced some of the sesame seeds with black sesame to get some extra colour variation. It's great with rosehip jam and a cup of black spiced tea.
Risotto of the day, alla Giapponese
This time, tried to make it Japanese as much as possible, so cooked with classic dashi broth, sesame oil, minced chervil and no garlic. Also finished with boiled spinach, chopped Yuzu peel and slightly thickened, same dashi broth.
Oh my, slightly chervil forwarded, yet almost perfect for hangover morning like today😂

Dinner time. Traditional Cape Verdean food done my way with dried and salted fish. Growing up, on my island, I remember eating and seeing salted fish once a year, around the Lenten and Easter season. It was cooked very plainly, simply boiled to remove the salt and served with boiled vegetables like kale and potatoes, sprinkled with salt and drizzled with olive oil. But I still liked it. I made my salted fish a little different with potatoes, sautéed onions, red peppers, and chickpeas. I sautéed the onions separately with the red peppers and assembled everything and baked it to finish it off (Swipe to see before it went in the oven 🙂) Delicious! *
Flashback to last Saturday’s “Super Easy Weekend Dinners,” with homemade pizza! I made the tomato sauce with fresh tuna mixed in, topped it with mozzarella cheese and green olive pieces. Delicious! 😋🍅🧀
