🇵🇷 Bruno’s Story (Part 1): On the 18th of September I found this very poorly pup wandering in the middle of Juan Bruno Zayas street, outside my casa particular (like Airbnb) in Cuba. I spoke to neighbours who told me there was nothing I could do to help and that the government would come in the morning to take the poorly street dogs and kill them. I knew I couldn’t just leave him and I eventually found a neighbour that was willing to keep Bruno in her yard until I could take him to a vet the next day.
These pictures were taken on his first of many trips to different clinics. The taxi driver from this day offered to look after Bruno until I could get him to one of the few rescue centres that are in Cuba 🇨🇺 🐾Please consider donating to help get Bruno back to England - link in bio 🙏🏻🐾
This guy was one of a dozen or so dogs at the home of a bookseller in La Rampa, Vedado. Books were floor-to-ceiling and the seller simply asks (through the window bars) what subject you are interested in, then shuffles around for a while and emerges with an armful of amazing volumes. #dogsofcuba#vedado#lahabana#havana#cuba#azuelos
This pup typifies the “Dog of Cuba” in size and peaceful disposition. They run wild all over but they are the gentlest, sweetest creatures. We were eating dinner at a table literally in the middle of the street in Vinalis Saturday night and watching as they would come up and just sit next to you. No aggressive begging or being annoying. They just sit and wait. Funny story is I brought Milk Bone to feed them and when I threw a biscuit, they’d sniff it and walk away because their diet is mostly healthy table scraps. On to the Bay Of Pigs today! #dogsofcuba#cubaphotography#cubadogs#vinalis#vinalis#cubaphotography#vinalisphotography
