While good for everyone, #bonebroth & #veggiebroth may be exceptionally beneficial for people with #cancer . Cancer patients who undergo conventional cancer treatments (surgery, chemo, and radiation) often experience a range of issues that impact eating. These can include: #nausea , vomiting, headache, #tiredness , sore mouth and/or throat, dry mouth, difficulty swallowing, loss of appetite, and changes in taste and smell of food.
After surgery, for example, the body requires extra calories and protein for wound healing and recovery. However, this is also when most cancer patients have pain and feel tired and often don’t feel up to eating. Bone broth is the perfect solution because it provides maximum nutrition in an easy to swallow form that is easily digested and soothing to the digestive system. This is in contrast to many other foods (especially solids) which can be difficult to fully break down.
The broth can be sipped alone, or turned into a base for soup to which you can add other cancer-fighting ingredients (i.e. organic vegetables, turmeric root, ginger, etc). For cancer patients who are experiencing a change in taste (or have lost their sense of taste) due to chemotherapy or radiation, herbs and spices can be easily added to enhance the flavor of the bone broth and make it more palatable. 💜We heard from a follower and wanted to add that #veggiebroths are also beneficial during cancer treatment. This is a great alternative when your doctor recommends against eating animal byproducts. Thank you so much for adding to the conversation and being so engaged. 🙏🏼💜❤️🥣#veggiebrothfromscratch#bonebroths#BoneBrothforCancer#HealthBenefitsofBoneBroth#DeborahZimmelTNBCFund#PeopleHelpingPeople#LetsTalkCancer#CancerFightingRecipes#OpenConversation#LetsShare#DZTNBCF#triplenegativebreastcancer#deborahzimmeltriplenegativebreastcancerfund#NonProfitOrganization
Healing crystals have an extraordinary ability to store, transmit, and transform energy is equally critical in the pursuit of health, wellness, and deep spirituality. People have been attracted to crystals since the dawn of time for burial rites, divination practices, healing rituals, spiritual advancement, and even simply as decoration to connote power. Our ancestors intuitively knew that when worn, the energies of the stones would interact with the human electromagnetic field to bring about energetic changes. We are not proposing healing crystals to be an alternative medicine in cancer treatments or are as a cure. What we are suggesting is these stones may help to calm, energize, and protect energies (if you believe in people’s #energies ). Why do we like certain people, why do some people make us feel good, while others don’t, why do we feel energized mind, body, and soul one days, and the next sluggish? Some people believe all of these unknowns are due to energy, particularly the energy we transmit and receive from others. You may think some of the claims of healing crystals are a bit lofty. I for one, think it’s nice to imagine someone in pain receiving some relief from holding a beautiful crystal in the palm of their hand. My mum liked to carry a small heart shaped #healingcrystal in the pocket of her coat 💖Here are a few healing crystals we like that you may choose to have around your home as a beautiful display or store in your pocket or purse when you are on the go throughout your day.

It is staggering how many Canadian women are still afraid to go to their doctors for an annual breast cancer screening. We understand this fear; we fear for ourselves, our loved ones, and how this devastating diagnosis might alter our own lives and the lives of those we care about. However, putting off such an important test, especially if we feel something is wrong, does nothing for us or for those we love. On one hand, putting off your annual screening might actual create more anxiety in the back of your mind when, in fact, you are fine. On the other hand, it’s important to keep in mind that everyone is different, no matter what a doctor or health care provider might say, if you feel something is wrong get a second opinion. Women are the authority at knowing their own body and what is normal for them.
Today we would like to bring your attention to two little-known screening options—one specific to breast cancer, that have the potential to help catch the disease much sooner than current norms. This in turn could have a massively positive impact on our treatment options, survival rates, and long-term health. While there is so much still unknown about cancer, it’s clear that outcomes shift dramatically when a cancer diagnosis comes *early* enough that the cancer is still localized, as opposed to later stages when it has metastasized.
The most current methods of deducing your risk of breast cancer and detecting breast cancer at the earliest stages are #genetictesting for the BRCA2 VUS gene mutation and the automated ultrasound called SonoCiné. Please consult with your healthcare provider for more information about #SonoCiné and to discuss any cases of cancer in your family history to determine if genetic testing is right for you. 👩🏽⚕️💜

The lymphatic system runs parallel to the circulatory system. Unlike blood, there is no pump to circulate #lymph ; it flows through the body via muscle movement. Lymph is a clear, fatty fluid produced by blood marrow, organs, and glands that moves throughout the body, carrying nutrients and removing waste that are too big to move through veins. The system is comprised of lymph nodes, vessels, and lymphoid tissues.
Lymph moves through the body and is filtered in the nodes. Lymphocytes in the nodes kill abnormal cells (cancer), viruses, and harmful bacteria. The liquid then transports the waste to the liver and kidneys for detoxification and subsequent removal through the excretory system.
Any intruders that the lymphatic system doesn’t recognize (e.g., toxic chemicals and pollutants) go along for the ride and are carried throughout the body, including in the blood and organs. This is why #cancer tests include a lymph biopsy: if cancerous cells are prevalent in lymph, it’s a sign that they exist in the organs as well. What the immune system (of which lymph is a huge part) can’t kill is transported and makes its way through the lymphatic system—this is how cancer can spread. #Drybrushing is an easy, affordable, at-home way to drain your lymphatic system -- scroll through the pictures to see how to dry brush your body for maximum benefits. An important thing to remember is to start at your feet and work your way up to your décollage. You can dry brush without oil, however, if you have sensitive skin you may experience a bit of redding of the skin; dry brushing with a soothing essential oil is a good way to mitigate this effect. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone! 😘💜🌸#PeopleHelpingPeople#CancerAdvice#RadiationAdvice#LetsTalkCancer#OpenConversation#DeborahZimmelTNBCFund#DZTNBCF#triplenegativebreastcancer#deborahzimmeltriplenegativebreastcancerfund#NonProfitOrganization
Sometimes it can seem like life is pulling us in a million directions all at once. However, throughout our lives we continue to need a place where we can go to relax, recharge, nourish the soul, and heal from the emotional pollution of our lives. Even so, most of us do little or nothing to recreate a rejuvenating environment for ourselves: When we neglect ourselves in this primal way, the soul is starved, and when we are malnourished spiritually, we become ill physically. I’m certain that every chronic or serious physical illness has a psycho-spiritual element supporting it. I’m not alone on this: Physicians from around the world have gathered anecdotal evidence that supports this fact. One of the most prevalent examples is #breastcancer and #selfless women. When I say selfless, I mean women who are constantly putting themselves last on the To Do list, or worse, not putting themselves on the list at all. 😱They’ll cancel their own plans to help a friend move, work an extra shift so someone else can take the day off, organize the church bake sale, run the PTA fundraiser, chauffeur the kids to basketball and ballet practice, and do about ten other things simply because no one else will. Individual acts of kindness are always appreciated, however, try to do something kind for yourself over this long weekend that replenishes and recharges your soul. It isn’t easy to calm your mind and relax, try to take slow, deep breaths, or breathing exercises, soak in a warm bath🛀, listening to soothing 🎶, practice mindful meditation 🧘♀️, writing your thoughts down ✍🏾,or use creative visualization. We hope you found some of these tips interesting -

Intravenous (IV) #vitamin C was studied in #patients with #breastcancer who were treated with adjuvant chemotherapy and radiation #therapy . The study found that patients who received #IVvitamin C had better quality of life and fewer side effects than those who did not. *This statement is from the #NationalCancerInstitute and can be found at cancer.gov
Unfortunately, there is no cure for cancer to this day and we can’t make any promises that a certain therapy or treatment will work for you and your diagnosis. It is always best to consult your doctor before you try any alternative treatment.
If you are considering trying an IV treatment along with #chemotherapy and #radiation , the main things to look for are experience and credentials, in both the medical director of the service and the individual administering the IV. Even with something as simple as an IV, practices can vary significantly from provider to provider based on experience—for example, do they let a metal needle sit in your arm for the duration of the drip or use a soft plastic catheter? Do they use local anesthesia at the IV site? Do they use inexpensive supplies or spring for nicer ones? Another thing to consider is the provider’s ability to handle emergency situations. IVs are certainly low-risk, but they aren’t risk-free. Adding any compound to a sterile drip carries some (very little, but some) risk of severe allergic reaction, and just because a provider is experienced in placing IVs doesn’t mean they have experience troubleshooting side effects or bad outcomes.

As the visible symptom of the trauma being undergone by the body, #hairloss from #chemotherapy can compound the devastation cancer already wreaks on people both physically and mentally. Some people feel better embracing the way they look in that moment of time and space and have no need for a #wig , but others don’t want their symptoms to be visible. Hair is deeply interconnected with our #femininity , sexuality, vitality, and sense of #self ; losing it, especially when you’re already feeling #sick and #scared , can be incredibly demoralizing. It can be made worse by the feeling that losing your #hair shouldn’t be your big concern. The process of choosing a wig can be an uplifting experience -- a wig can transform how you’re feeling about yourself. Shopping for it can be a moment of fun—real, distracting fun. Here are a few helpful tips to make it fun:
1. Bring friends👯♀️ 2. Set a budget
3. Reserve the right not to wear one👩🏽🎤 4. Consider color and length
5. Fit is everything!! 6. Get a comfortable wig cap -- consider a lace-front wig for comfort and natural appearance
7. Consider itchiness😤
8. Choose the type of hair you want (synthetic, human, or combination)
The pros of choosing a synthetic wig is they last longer, are less expensive, low-maintenance with no need to style. The cons are they can look overly shiny and they can’t be styled with heat.
The pros of choosing human hair are for your wig is they are lighter, feel more natural and breathable, can be styled with heat and colored to your preference, and can be cleaned and conditioned with regular hair products. The cons of choosing human hair are they are more expensive, and need more upkeep.

Cancer cells love #sugar ! That is why refined carbohydrates like white sugar, white flour, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and soft drinks are extremely dangerous for anyone trying to #slowcancer , #preventcancer or
#reversecancer . Sugar essentially feeds tumors and encourages cancer growth. Cancer cells uptake sugar at 10-12 times the rate of healthy cells. In fact, that is the basis of PET (positron emission tomography) scans -- one of the most accurate tools for detecting cancer growth. PET scans use radioactively labeled glucose to detect sugar-hungry tumor cells. When patients drink the sugar water, it gets preferentially taken up into the cancer cells and they light up! The 1931 Nobel laureate in medicine, German Otto Warburg, PhD, discovered that cancer cells have a fundamentally different energy metabolism compared to healthy cells. He found that malignant tumors exhibit increased glycolysis -- a process whereby glucose is used as a fuel by cancer -- as compared with normal cells.Warburg also found that cancers thrive in an #acidic environment. Sugar is highly acidic. With a pH of about 6.4, it is 10 times more acidic than the ideal alkaline pH of blood at 7.4. Sugar suppresses a key immune response known as phagocytosis – the Pac-Man effect of the immune system. Consuming 10 teaspoons of sugar can cause about a 50% reduction in phagocytosis. If you consider the sugar in your cereal, the syrup on your waffles and pancakes, the sugar added to your morning ☕️ or tea, the sugar in cold beverages like iced tea or lemonade, the HFCS in prepared foods, salad dressing and ketchup, and of course sugary snacks and desserts, you can see how easy it is to suppress your immune system #knowthefacts#DeborahZimmelTNBCFund#DZTNBCF#triplenegativebreastcancer#deborahzimmeltriplenegativebreastcanc
#MetastaticBreastCancerDay is important as it sheds light on the importance of improving & expanding the lives of those living with #MetastaticBreastCancer , also known as, #StageIV#Cancer .
This form of cancer is especially dangerous because it means the cancer has spread outside the #breast and into other #organs such as bones, liver, lungs, and/or brain. Currently, there are intensive #treatments but this form of cancer is Not #curable . This is especially true concerning #TNBC as studies have shown that #TripleNegativeBreastCancer is more likely to spread beyond the breast and more likely to recur (come back) after #treatment . These risks appear to be greatest in the first few years after treatment. For example, a study of more than 1,600 women in #Canada published in 2007 found that #women with triple-negative #breastcancer were at higher risk of having the cancer recur outside the breast. Same is true in Deborah Zimmel's case; after a #doublemastectomy , #chemotherapy and #radiation , within a year, her cancer came back and had spread to her liver, lungs and brain.
It is very important to raise more #awareness and gain greater #medical#education for those living with these forms of cancer today and into the future.
Please help by donating to the #DeborahZimmelTNBCFund today (clink on website link in bio☝🏼🙏🏼) Additionally, donations to @metavivor are greatly needed as 100% of their proceeds will go to helping raise funds for research in treating metastatic breast cancer.
#Fridays Tips for #Beginning#Meditation :
* Look for a #quiet location. If you're beginning a meditation #practice , a quiet place with minimal distractions is ideal.
* Make sure your #posture is #comfortable . If you are sitting or standing, make sure you are in a comfortable position.
* Keep an open #attitude . It is very common to become #distracted while meditating, so try not to #judge yourself when your mind wanders — just gently return your attention to the #focus . Observe and accept the thoughts that come and go.
* Try to avoid #positions that make you sleepy. When meditating in a sitting position, some people feel as though they are falling #asleep . If this is a problem for you, try to meditate while standing or walking.
* Allow yourself the #time you need. It takes time and dedication to develop a meditation routine. It's best to begin with small, manageable time increments, such as 5 minutes once or twice a day, and then work up to longer blocks of time. With regular practice, meditation becomes easier and more automatic.
1- #Headspace and #insighttimer are fantastic and insightful apps, which help guide you through a daily step by step meditation process. It is very useful for beginners and as you improve the app can be tailors to your needs. The guided meditations are not long & very nice to relax and listen to. Download @headspace or @insight today and start your mediation #journey !! 2- #VitaminD is an important component to battling #cancer . So when setting up your mediation area, try somewhere with natural #sunlight . #VitD supplements are also highly recommended when managing #TNBC symptoms.
#Pranayama or #ConsciousBreathing techniques are important in keeping the bodily fluids, blood and energy in your body like a free flowing river. We need to foster #relaxation and gentle #movements that encourage its increased flow, which can be achieved through deep #inhale -holding-#exhaling#breaths . These techniques are especially important after #breast#surgery , when it is paramount to undertake new activities to increase impaired #lymphatic function.
Pranayama breathing techniques are critically important to our #health and well-being because they help our bodies into a deeper state of relaxation to counter the mental and physical stress of #breastcancer and its #treatments .
Deep and conscious breathing techniques help target the #pectoral area & keeps the fluid moving through the body rather than slowing down and creating a back up. This benefits the #breasts by promoting drainage and #healing and creating a sense of safety when expanding the chest.
Let this be your breathing practice of #self -understanding and #healing . #heathstartswithyou#breathwork#fightTNBC
Next on the docket for this weeks #CancerFightingFoods , let's discus #TURMERIC & #BROCCOLI#TripleNegativeBreastCancer is the one #breastcancer which is negative for #ER /PR and #HER . It is usually caused due to the presence of mutated #BRCA genes. It is in most cases, inheritable and there is not much therapy available to prevent it from recurring after treatment.
1. #Curcumin (the chemical compound in turmeric) has been found to play an important role in all types of breast cancer inhibition, treatment and post-therapy prevention of cancer from recurring. Curcumin helps ease the symptoms via multiple ways, and has been shown to regulate the telomerase activity in the cells and prevent it’s overexpression of under expression. This leads to controlled cell division and prevention of the cells from turning cancerous. It also shows potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities on the cells of the breast tissue. Inflammation and oxidation occur in case of minor or major damage or infection in the tissues and is good for disease prevention. You can take it in pill form, a tincture, sprinkle some on your meals as a condiment or in healthy juices/shakes. There are so many options...so no excuse not to take Turmeric on a daily basis. 🌸💗
2. There is an extraordinary body of research showing that a balanced diet with plenty of #fruits and #vegetables can minimize the risk of many diseases, including cancer. However, a new report takes these findings a step further by focusing on just one of these risk reducers—BROCCOLI! Once broccoli is digested in the stomach it creates a compound called #DIM . This compound has has been shown to suppress human #breastcancer cell growth by preventing cancerous cells from dividing and multiplying. In addition, beyond preventing the actual spread of the disease, DIM also promotes the death of existing tumor cells by altering levels of certain proteins that keep tumor cells alive. Recent research has found that vitamin D, which your body produces through sun exposure can help prevent and treat colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer. This is significant because these cancers count for 35% of cancer cases and 20% of cancer deaths in the United States. Dr. Cedric F. Garland of the University of California’s San Diego Moores Cancer Centre is the epidemiologist who has connected the dots between Vitamin D deficiency and cancer 👨🏼⚕️Studies show that the vitamin fights cancer, by promoting cellular differentiation, preventing cancer cell growth, including apoptosis and preventing blood vessel formation within tumors. The review, published in the Journal of Cancer, found that 4000 IU/d of vitamin D3 could inhibit cancer progression, as measured by the main biomarker 25- hydroxycholecalciferol. #vitaminD#peoplehelpingpeople#fightingcancertogether#strongertogether#pushingforacure#DeborahZimmelTNBCFund ❤
