It wouldn't be a trek without a visit to a #Waterfall would it? Located in #DataiBay , the #NorthEast part of #Langkawi , #Kedah , #Malaysia , #Temurun has three tiers (I'm at the third) and a cumulative drop of around 200m. I attest, this is definitely the tallest fall on the #Island and looking up at it (not all is shown) from inside (well I tried to get close, I was a few strokes short as the current was damn strong!) was mesmerising. Looking up at such #beauty and just knowing it for a moment was solace for the #journey . Definitely worth a visit, and see if you get to the drop point without as much of a struggle 😉
A juvenile #greathornbill in flight @theandaman a #latergram from our favourite place to see them #dataibay a huge thank you to The staff at the Andaman especially Ravi the customer experience manager that took@us to the spa with our heavy cameras in his buggy and Dewi for the best mojitos in town x It was an absolute highlight for us to observe this family #inthewild free as nature intended and was the first time my daughter was able to see a wild #greathornbill x #magichappens
While Irshad was speaking to the team about the origin of Teluk Datai’s name, we were pleasantly distracted by an incoming family of otters bobbing in the waves. After a quick scan for potential dangers on the beach, the family decided to come up to shore one-by-one. We counted nine individual otters. On closer inspection, we determined that this is a family of Smooth-coated otters, Lutrogale perspicillata. They spent some time playing on the beach, rubbing their bodies on the sand. They then moved into a small creek for more social bonding of play fighting and swimming in brackish water.
The Smooth-coated otter is an important predator of the aquatic habitats in Teluk Datai. It hunts fish, crustaceans, and molluscs in inland waters, sometimes in the sea. Although our recent sightings of this species occurred in marine environments, it creates its dens in forested areas where a freshwater stream is close by.
We hope to share critter encounters like this with you when we reopen.
