Last Saturday myself and friends bopped to underground soul DJ’s known as Soul 45. Something quite art exposition like of it! On arrival of the upstairs Heartbreakers Bar was a dark room with the main stage area adorned with disco ball and lights floating above the Soul 45 sign in a fashion that made it look like the galaxy suspended before our eyes. Super Funky! The ceiling was decked with balloons, the walls were decked with projected movie scenes from films such as Shaft, Cleopatra Jones, enter the Dragon, Hitman, Superfly and Foxy Brown. Finally, the stage was decked with.... decks! The DJs bought old school club aesthetics to the room with a proper flare which made all music lovers tilt theirs heads and take their hats off.
There’s something so beautiful about the sound of a record and the songs made to be recorded on a record. Soul 45 played them and reminded us of the past generations of music and its origins.
Though I could not stay long I thank the DJs for inviting myself and letting me takes photos of their equipment.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the night and hope you guys see what I saw from the photos this is evidential in the photos.
