I had a few chive plants in a pot when we moved to the country 7 years ago. I let them drop seeds from their gorgeous explosive blooms, and then I transplanted them to create a border here. •
Because I am an interior designer & space-planner by trade (garden-artist by free-time), the hoe is my pencil-paintbrush. I carved WAY too many flowerbeds into this blank canvas (yard). It would have cost a fortune to purchase every plant, and besides, I am a bargain designer/shopper/mom in almost every sense. (I do like my pricy almond butter and coffee, and @aveda hair care, but good design does not have to break the bank.) •
So I learned to save seeds, and sprinkle. I’m taking no credit for the the idea- whether the wind or the the birds- the plants themselves want to thrive and expand their territory. Much like us.
I love beauty in my environment- in fact, I thrive w an inspired view.
So, this landscape was created on a budget, and those chives will be on some roasted potatoes very soon. Because garden + food = happy family around my table.
I can truly say I love cooking homemade, healthy meals for my friends + family ❤️ Especially when your bestie @kellysoley + her hubby @kpetro13 come to visit you for a night out! This veggie pad thai was filled with @wholefoods sweet potato noodles, @lotusfoods brown rice/millet noodles, red chard, snow peas, carrots, broccoli + ginger. I topped it with my famous peanut thai sauce (search “pad thai” on my blog!), chives, watercress + a lime wedge 🍲 It had all the feels + tastes of the authentic dish without the “heaviness” feeling plus packed with so many greens + nutrients. •
