Returning home is the most difficult part of long-distance hiking; You have grown outside the puzzle and your piece no longer fits. Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in an office or mowing the lawn. Climb that mountain!
Kahlpahlim Rock keeping watch over some of the world’s oldest rainforest. 🌏 Leaving from Davies Creek, the walk is approximately 10ks to the top and back, but you are treated to multiple changes in forest type and spectacular 360 degree views at the top.
Doubled up on my D3 supplements after a night of WiFi-murdering thunder storms and winds straight out of a Buster Keaton movie. Woke up dark (like really dark) and early to bundle up like it’s the Baltimore blizzard of 2010 and I’m off to work 2 hours before shift start for a head count with the charge nurse. My anxiety tells me that I’ve forgotten how to layer up for freezing temps and I blame that one barre class I plodded through for my official transmogrification into a West Coast wuss ( jk West Coast jk 💖😅👏🏼. It’s not you it’s the barre classes). All the overthinking ended up with me looking like I’m on a heist with Ving Rhames under the guise of a #GoT tour instead of say like a crazy Asian Ygritte (which what I was really going for, cause I have the soul of a ginger trapped inside a ginger-eater lols). Iceland is so stark (wink*) and gray this time of year then you look up from your phone and the sun is out enough to light everything in Hi-Def or in the color of orange melange. The locals are welcoming and friendly with the right dose of dark humor and a healthy sense irony. My kind of peeps. This weather should be keeping me down and indoors and in bed but instead I am out streaming (or waterfalling) Mother Nature’s Netflix with the glee of a preschooler on pixie dust and Gatorade. What I’m really trying to say is #itwasagoodday . #fangirl#roamifyouwantto#chasingwaterfalls
