2 oz. Empress 1908 Gin (@empressgin1908)
2 dashes Rosemary Grapefruit bitters (@vicdistillers)
4 oz. tonic water (@fevertreemixers)
Rosemary sprig and juniper berry garnish
Last week the kind folks at Victoria Distillers (@vicdistillers) sent me a package filled with cocktail-related goodies (which may or may not have included some cocktail cherries steeped in a Pinot noir eau de vie 🤤). In addition to various spectacular gins, they also make some choice bitters. I love how rosemary combines with certain gins, so I thought a rosemary-oriented spin on the Empress and Tonic was in order. The bitters, combined with the rosemary sprig, added additional aromatic dimensions to an already delectable gin and tonic.
As the butterfly pea flower-infused Empress 1908 gin changes colour from indigo to royal purple when mixed with something acidic (such as tonic water), I prepare my Empress and Tonics slightly different from my usual G&Ts. I pour 1 oz. of the gin first, to be mixed with the tonic water, resulting in a purple base. Then, I pour the second oz. of gin as an indigo float, to create a colour gradient for presentation. The drink can then be stirred prior to consumption.
Have you had a chance yet to try this magnificent gin?

Get it all done in one swift move. The amount of muscles you will use here are insane. A few key points before you try this one out:
1. Get those hips up! Fire your glutes and keep it tight!!
2. Bottoms up kettlebells will tax your forearms first. This is excellent variation for anyone wanting to improve grip strength (#spartanrace ). 3. Start your series with the alternating holds seen here and notice about the fourth rep, I push the kettlebell up an extra inch or two bringing my shoulder off the ball. This is great for training your “boxer muscle” and stabilizing those shoulders.
4. Time under tension. Train endurance by finishing 10 or more alternating reps with a bilateral chest press until you can’t keep those kettlebells in the air.
Paired with a few other exercises we will post here, you will be ready to take on the world with these in your regular training routine.
