Kofi Annan, the first black African to lead the United Nations, has died at age 80. He served as Secretary-General at a time when worries about the Cold War were replaced by threats of global terrorism, and his efforts to combat those threats and secure a more peaceful world brought him the Nobel Peace Prize.
Detroit, on the cusp of innovative models! Looking forward to this!

Many of the choices we make are guided by money or the lack of it. People are compromising their ethics and values daily in hopes of becoming wealthy. They toll hard believing one day they will not have to endure financial struggle of any kind and, if lucky, will be able to pass on that newly acquired wealth to future generations. But what is “wealth” really? As defined today, wealth has become quite elusive for many. Majority of Black bodies find multi-generational wealth unattainable because of systemic racism that has infected financial institutions. Wealth-building matters for Black American families in Detroit who are trying to invest in their communities so they are not beholden to outsiders. Under the current economic system, the 228-year wealth gap between the average Black American family and a white American family is an indicator that Black bodies were never meant to obtain wealth comparable to their white colleagues. What if we created a new portal to wealth and redefined wealth itself? What if we used blockchain technology to develop pathways to a type of wealth that doesn't rely on the exploitation of humans and the extraction of resources?
We will be collectively exploring these "what ifs" and more on Tuesday, August 21st at Defining Wealth for an Alternative Economy. This exercise in future visioning will take place in the form of a co-creation session where I invite everyone to contribute to architecting an economy for a just society. Come co-create with us!

Sometimes when @hempdaddy7 is sleeping besides me I look at pictures of us. It reminds me of why I stay even tho his snoring sounds like an antique diesel train with a missing muffler (do trains even have mufflers?). Plus, there is no one else I would want to build a legacy with.🖤 Well, except for maybe @doncheadle

For years, debt has been preached as slavery. I mean centuries! Yet we still fall for it every single time.
All debt is bad, in my opinion. Why? Because you don’t get to decide what you want to do with your money. You don’t get to live the life you believe you deserve. Or do you because of your choices? 🤔
In that moment, debt seemed like the best or only choice when in fact, it was due to lack of planning and wanting instant satisfaction for things you cannot afford. But it ensures you’ll never be in a position to afford to quit working.
I hate debt. It makes you think you have money. Lenders act happy for you but they are actually happy because they own you! The credit cards, the mortgage, the car notes, the personal loans, the student loans. They own you! Miss those payments and it’s all gone! Except student loans, they actually come after your wages, you know, your hard earned wages because you’ll always have to work as long as you have excessive payments because you have no disposable income to invest in order to receive unearned income (you missed it 🤦🏽♀️).
Debt is slavery. Debt is a trap. It’s not your friend.
There is a better way to life. I promise. I love having no debt! 🙌🏾

We have enough as it is now to start giving back our time, money and wisdom. Let's not wait until we've achieved all our lofty goal, ideas and ambitions before we reach out to help others .
If you don't do it now, then you probably won't do it when you have all the free time and all of the world's riches. So start finding ways big or small to give back .
The photo was taken while I was on a service trip to Haiti with Kore Haiti 🇭🇹 this past spring

As an entrepreneur you continue to work towards elevating your business. This can take place in many forms such as learning a new technique or using new technology to better your business, working on ways to enhance customer engagement, working on a new marketing campaign or rebranding your company to add new outlets and opportunities to the business. This can seem daunting to others but as an entrepreneur who is passionate about their products or services this is just #levelingup your business.
I know we all want to find that million dollar idea and have your company take off over night. But I would suggest if you truly want to be successful as an entrepreneur, don’t think about the money. Take time to think about what your are truly #passionate about and use that to craft a business that you will love. Think about why you want to do it; if your not in love with you then you won’t be willing to sacrifice to make it successful. Find what your passionate about and it will be the driving force that will pushes you to become an amazing #entrepreneur 💯

Up-selling. The bread and butter of any sales industry. It can make the difference between being average to being the top earner. You set the price because you’re curating a one of a kind experience for each customer. That’s a luxury for them! Men will always try to convince you that the prices are absurd but there’s a reason that the prices are similar all across the country. Because men will pay them! Upselling gives you the opportunity to stand out. Once you get over the awkwardness of asking for more it will become second nature. Your bank account and confidence will thank you!

You got to put some respect on the Queen’s name too. Craig is a professional and seemed to ask the question based off his industry association with his dad, but I loved John David’s answer. ✊🏾

I think I'm on the right path paving the future for my babies. My table ain't shaking no more but it's getting heavy baby. Don't ask what I bring to the table then don't match it. My 20's was drama but my 30's is all about the business!!! 😏😏😏
