2013 Marchesi di Barolo Cannubi
A historic producer, from a noble family. The story is to lengthy here but pick up a copy of @kerinokeefe ‘s book on Barolo to read all about it.
This producer has historically been somewhat underperforming, but quality has picked up considerably. Cannubi is one of Barolo’s greatest vineyards, however this Cannubi is not part of the original core vineyards. There were legal battles back and forth between Marchesi and other producers to include / exclude of which Marchesi won thus including it. My personal view is that it is somewhat misleading, to be a truer representation it should stayed classified as the vineyard it was, mostly Cannubi Muscatel. It would provide greater comparison, and it’s still a fantastic Vineyard.
As for the wine, it’s a nice representation of Barolo. It’s a bit austere and less floral then some others I have tasted, but it’s clearly a high quality wine that I enjoyed very much. I wish this producer all the success in the world, it’s history brings a lot of responsibility and I want to see it thrive. O’keefe gave it a 90. Price $70.
Amazing experience tasting the 2014 Single vineyard wines from Produttori del Barbaresco! Lucked into this by coming as a distributor was leaving and were able to taste all nine single vineyard wines (from barrel, bottled for this tasting) as well as the vintage wines (2013 montefico, 2007 Paje, 2015 Pora). All were fruity and approachable, ranging from the thinner bodied, more aromatic Pora to the fuller Paje and Rabaja.
Favorites were the Asili, which had a refreshing nose (think of a sea breeze) and well balanced red fruit profile), the Montefico that was more approachable than the tannic 2013 vintage with vivid red and blue fruits, pepper, and vibrant acidity. All were great, but forced to choose we also enjoyed the Montestefano, Rabaja and Paje.
Can't wait to buy some of these once they are bottled!

이 어린동생은 동의할 마음이 1도 없다며.....
흑역사를 추가했다고 한다.
요즘 나의 가장 큰 관심을 불러 일으키는 네비올로.
특히 바롤로는 킹! 이라는 별명이 있는데 음식과 같이 먹어도 좋은데 아마 비에 젖은 나무 또는 트러플향 때문인 것 같다.
하튼 마지막까지 잘마셨다.

Men även Piemonte och Barolo släppte några dunderhits som är extra lätta att tycka om idag. Som G.D. Vajras Barolo Ravera. Arketypiska markörer i nosen och första sippen är storslaget fyllig direkt ur flaskan. Med lite luft kommer det att få oss att stämma upp i skön gomsång. Instämmer 100% med Jarl - 2011 är precis som Jill Johnson - svår att inte älska. Mycket bra, super klassisk barolo. Kraftig röd fruktig doft, tjära, torkade rosor, järn och nagellack.
Väldigt ungt intryck i både doft och smak men ändå njutbar redan nu.
Relativt kraftiga syror men tanninerna är finkorniga. Lite körsbär kärna i avslutet och alkoholen märks en aning, men det kommer fixa sig med lagring.

This bottle was given to me by the man him self elio in 2010. We visited him one cold January day. He told me 1982 (my birth year) was a very special year to him and his family. A very generous gift. I opened it the first Christmas after my son was born (he was 8 weeks old). I couldn't think of a more special bottle to open and enjoy with my family.
To the man him self. I didn't understand then how important this wine was at the time but I learned quickly.
