A gastric bypass tip: sometimes we get in a hurry and dont pay attention to our chewing. All of a sudden it comes the pain, the sweats, the nausea and the dreaded "foamies." I tried the papaya enzymes and meat tenderizer when this happens but then...thanks to mom's genius we tried going directly to the source. Pineapple juice. If you are a post op RnY patient. Start keeping pineapple juice. If you get a piece of food caught. Take small sips. I found with 5 to 10 minutes the food has dissolved enough to get "unstuck" and bring relief. To my fellow bariatric friends you are rockstars.
Most sources recommend 60-75 grams of protein per day. This figure is determined on patient weight and individual circumstances.
Achieving the recommended amount of protein initially may seem difficult with your smaller stomach. Immediately following surgery we recommend adding protein supplements (skim milk powder or protein powders) to your fluids to reach your protein needs. Once you are upgraded to a full diet you can achieve your protein needs through both foods and drinks. ————————————————————
Following sleeve or bypass surgeries, most patients in sedentary office roles are able to return to work two weeks after their surgery. Some have returned to work sooner.
Patients with manual roles may require up to four-six weeks off work. We give personalised advice for your return to work schedule based on your surgery, work and home roles and needs.————————————————————

My mother in law (bariatric) orders this and pours in a sugar free protein shake. It’s awesome and on plan! (sub the Splenda for Pyure or Truvia THM-ers)
Iced Triple Espresso
Add in 1/2 sugar free caramel protein shake she carries with her.
SO SORRY for the delay. i know i said i'd keep yal up to date as much as possible, but i threw in a video of @tib.n.tate to make up for the lack of posts, because cute puppies makes everything better right? :) i'll do better from here on out - promise! vlog up - link in bio!
Here's an easy question for all of you- check the plates below and see if you can tell wich plate contains the biggest portion of food? Are you sure you have picked the right plate? Well, think about it before you proceed reading the answer. In reality, each plate contains exactly the same amount of food, yet the context (size of the plate) makes you beñieve opposite. This "cheap trick" is greatly used by restaurants, specially in more exclusive ones where they use biggest plates possible to give you an illusion your portion is smaller than it really is... and the food also looks better on the bigger plate too!!!!
I’ve seen a lot of WLS posts asking about how to order a coffee or an iced coffee in a “safe” way for #Bariatric#WLS patients. I prefer iced drinks personally, but you can get this drink in iced or hot. I get a:
•light ice .
Iced Vanilla Latté from @starbuckscanada or @secondcupcanada or @brewedawake .
These places have decaf espresso beans. My WLS program doesn’t allow caffeine for one full year after surgery and recommend limiting it afterwards, as well, because it is ulcerative. I’m lactose intolerant so I choose Lactose Free Milk but they also have soy, coconut or almond milk. .
You can add a scoop of flavoured or unflavoured protein to this drink to up your protein intake, as well. .
I like to drink half of mine and then pour in a chocolate, vanilla or caramel @premierprotein drink to maximize my iced coffee experience! 😂
I hope this helps some of you that are new to post-op life and are missing coffee. This is also the easiest way for me to get my fluids in. And yes, I use a straw, like a bad Bariatric patient. It’s what works for me. 🤷🏻♀️💁🏻
Do you find it hard to meet your protein needs after surgery? Here's an 👉🏼easy 👉🏼digestible 👉🏼nutritious way to get good quality protein in:
EGG FRITATTAS IN MINI MUFFIN CUPS! 🍳🍅🧀🌱 You can prepare a batch, keep them in the fridge and eat them as tolerated, 1 to 2 at a time.
They are good cold or heated in the microwave for 20 seconds.
Made 2 different variations:
1) Spinach cheddar and sage
2) Sundried tomatoes, black olives and oregano
You can literally throw in whatever leftover veggies you have in your fridge!
🔪In a bowl break the eggs (I used 6 eggs for 12 mini fritatattas) and whisk them using a fork. Season with some salt
🔪Grease your mini muffin cups with oil spray and pour in the eggs slowly to fill 2/3 the cup
🔪Add your condiments (cheese/chopped spinach/ sundried tomatoes/herbs)
🔪Bake In the oven for 15 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit
As simple as that!
Now what would you put in yours???
