Some photos of my face with make up on!
I've found that Skinoren keeps my face really matte and my make up lasts longer over the top. I also don't turn into an oil slick by midday, so the days I've used Skinoren I haven't had to use powder at lunchtime!!!!
I'm really pleased with how my skin is looking with make up on, it's just those textured areas that bother me.
However first Fractional Laser session is booked for 18th August at 1pm, so hopefully this time next year I'll have seen some major improvements!
Now that I’m done with Accutane, it’s time to tackle pigmentation! I’m not going to do anything other than my normal routine for the next couple of weeks just to let my skin get a little desensitised after all it’s been through!
Having shopped my stash, I’m going to use these two products I already have: Lactic Acid and Azelaic Acid from The Ordinary. Both are exfoliating acids that help your skin renew its skin cells, and Azelaic Acid in particular is meant to target pigmentation. Vitamin C is also a killer ingredient for getting rid of pigmentation, and once I’m done with either of these, I’m planning on picking up a bottle!
I’m going to start off just by applying them every third night for two weeks (I don’t want to irritate or aggravate my skin and cause a breakout), then I’ll up it to every other night. Around six weeks after finishing accutane, I’m going to try celebrity esthetician @reneerouleau ’s system of applying acids for three nights in a row, then not applying them for three nights.
Throughout all of this, I’ll be using my trusty Avène Cleanance sunscreen! It’ll prevent my pigmentation from ‘tanning’ and getting darker/more stubborn to remove! Going to be tracking my progress on here, so stay posted! ❤️🍄
I added these two products to my routine at beginning of this month and I thought to share my thoughts on them so far 🙂. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ecological Formulas Melazepam Cream (20% Azelaic acid): Azelaic acid comes highly recommended for adult/cystic acne by my favorite blog www.simpleskincarescience.com so I knew I had to try it. I have papules/tiny/stubborn 😠 cysts along my jawline. This cream has helped to put these cysts under control. It stings a bit on application but the stinging fades off after a few minutes. The texture is just like a regular cream lotion and I mostly use it as a spot treatment on my breakout areas. I use it at night after cleansing, wait for about 20 mins and continue with the rest of my routine. I will keep using it and hopefully those cysts can clear completely. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant: This is an Instagram fave though I was a bit on the fence about trying is exactly why I bought a travel size to avoid any major heartbreaks lol. I’m not sure the gram needs another intense review of this so ill just go straight and share my thoughts on it so far. This exfoliant is working well for me and I have no regrets buying it. I use it all over my face once a week (though I still interchange with my stridex pads) with concentration on my problem areas i.e my jawline. I notice that the next day the spots are calmer and they eventually heal. A con (might be a good con) is that I get a purge (two new spots) the next day. @funskincare shared a short and sweet post on the difference between a purge and a breakout and that was helpful for me. So far so good this has helped to keep acne under control. And I will definitely repurchase. The bottle leaks though 😑 and that’s annoying. I think it’s an old version I bought cos I hear the bottle has been changed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do you have any experience with paulas choice bha or azelaic acid? Ill love to hear from you 🙂. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%: This has done wonders for my skin! I have had cystic acne for 3 years, and even prescriptions and visits to the dermatologist haven’t helped. Since starting to use this, I haven’t had any acne whatsoever on my cheeks (my problem area) and only a handful throughout the rest of my face...and it’s been 3+ months! I don’t think my skin has been this clear in years. It has also improved my texture and evened out my skin tone. I personally did not experience any sensitivity or drying when I started using it, so that’s a bonus. My only complaint would be the packaging; the tube is awful, and I always have to cut it open to get the last week’s worth of product. It’s only like $7, but you don’t get much product in the tube...I have used it morning and night since April and am on my 3rd tube. However, the product itself is so great that I’m willing to deal with the packaging.
Have you tried any products from Deciem? Let me know!

⚫ Ordinary mini haul ⚫
Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% is the very first product from this brand that I repurchased and I haven't even finished the old tube, but I like this so much. Well, no, I love it so much 🖤
100% L- Ascorbic Powder just because I'm curious to play mix and match with it. I'll show it in another post, once I played enough 🕶️
Multi Peptide Serum for Hair Density is the reason why this mini haul took place. Since the majority of TO products work so well on me, I wanna see if I could get a fuller hair. Now is still too soon to tell, I'll see within 2 months 👀
I've been using #TheOrdinary#AzelaicAcid on top of moisturizer in my #pmroutine by dotting it sparingly allover my face and patting it in instead of rubbing to avoid pilling, then apply moisturizer again over it.
So far, I'm not bothered by the silicones and spreadability of it 🙌
When you’re feeling a little run down, and skin could use a “perk up” it’s time for an oxygen facial. Real concentrated oxygen, and a potent dose of hydra toes and anti-Agers. They’ll ask if you just got back from vacation. ❤️😀
Although we believe you are beautiful as you are, for those that are not loving their brown and red spots, we’ve created Pigment Correcting Booster. This is a very powerful home treatment combining Azelaic acid to brighten and smooth the overall skin tone, Alpha Arbutin + Kojic Acid to reduce pigmentation. Ferulic acid protects against further UV damage, while Salicylic acid helps prevent breakouts and red acne scarring. We are in ❤️ with this...and we think you will be too!
#TheOrdinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%
After reading simpleskincaresciene's blog post on #AzelaicAcid , I was convinced to give it a try!
An excerpt from the post - "Azelaic Acid is a highly effective acne treatment comparable to Benzoyl Peroxide, Tretinoin, and even Accutane. It also treats rosacea, melasma, and hyperpigmentation." I actually really dislike silicones, I bought this only because I thought it was the only option available to me without prescription🙄
👉 Paula's Choice and Garden of Wisdom have Azelaic Acid too!
This has been more or less my skincare routine over the last week or two. I’m baffled by the simplicity of it! Whenever I have a new-product-gone-wrong situation going on, it really helps me to recalibrate my skin back to normalcy by using the absolute necessities! Just add a sunscreen during the day, a first cleanser at night if I wore makeup or an exfoliator every other night.
How do you guys shake off the remnants of a bad skin reaction? 😆

It started when I was 7. My first zit. Little did I know that it would be decades of skin issues.
I’ve been on every Rx for acne since my young teenage years. It started with “the pill” which felt so wrong from the start and it moved to everything else before I ended up on accutane. Horrible horrible stuff! These meds wrecked my gut health, gave me headaches, migraines, ravenous cravings, and other terrible things...all in the name of clear skin.
And of course I’ve tried different cleansers. Gentle ones. Harsh ones. Natural ones. Synthetic ones.
Once I got on probiotics for a while it really helped my skin. But after Norah was born, my skin took a random turn. And at that point I wasn’t going to put any more poison in my body or on my skin.
So I went more natural.
Special baclock cloths.
Magic makeup erasers.
But I got desperate. After months and months of nothing working, I went to my derm and unfortunately she wrote me an Rx. After I debated for over a WEEK about getting it, I went to pick it up.
But it was A THOUSAND DOLLARS!! You kidding me?! Heck no!
Little did I know what God had in the works. Several weeks later, I would begin the most natural, plant based, skincare line that ACTUALLY delivered results! Not only for my acne, but for the wrinkles I didn’t even know I had!
When I heard that 100% of the people in the trials saw improvements within the first 4-8 weeks, I looked up every ingredient to ensure safety and I gave it a go.
If you want to see how bad my skin was while experimenting on that other stuff, you’ll have to message me. But this is what happened in 60 days.
I. Am. Ecstatic! I can’t wait to see how my skin continues to improve!

It was almost two years ago when I first heard about The Ordinary products from Wayne Goss, quite some time before they became an internet sensation and favourite. And how right he was!!! So, when now I saw one of his YouTube clips talking about the Garden of Wisdom products (a VictoriaHealth exclusive), I knew I had to try some of their serums. The brand primarily produces serums packed with actives and facial oils. Their philosophy is to incorporate the least amount of inactive ingredients in their serums in order to allow the actives to work much more effectively. Price-wise, they are a bit more expensive than The Ordinary products but still very affordable. It was difficult to narrow down my choices but this is my first little haul from them:
Type of Skin: Dry, sensitive (prone to redness), intolerant to stearic acid and mineral oil.
& GOW Azelaic Acid 10% Serum: Azelaic acid is know to tackle redness, so I really need it in my life. I have been using The Ordinary azelaic acid suspension product but its thick and sticky consistency makes it tricky for me to use is as much as I would like to. I really want the GOW serum to work 🤞.
FULL INGREDIENTS: Spring Water Azelaic Acid 10% Glycerin Sodium Lactate Leucidal SF (Lactobacillus Ferment) Jojoba Protein Silica Gel Carbomer Dehydroxyxanthan Gum Liposomes (Phospholipon) (they are derived from SOY) Allantoin Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate).
& GOW Vitamin C 23% Serum & Ferulic Acid: Who does not need a daily dosage of a vitamin C serum, especially when it is easily sourced and cheap? This serum contains 23% of L-Ascorbic Acid 😍. It also comes in an airless pump to tackle oxidation.
FULL INGREDIENTS: Spring Water, L-Ascorbic Acid 23%, Alkyl Benzoate, Panthenol-D, Carbomer, Ferulic Acid, Sclerotium Gum, Optiphen, Hyaluronic acid.
& GOW Mandelic Acid 10% Serum: Mandelic acid is always effective but very gentle for my dry and sensitive skin. I can never have enough of this acid.
FULL INGREDIENTS: Spring Water, Mandelic Acid 10%, Sodium PCA, D-Panthenol, Leucidal SF (lactobacillus fermentation), Hyaluronic Acid (sodium hyaluronate). .
Look what arrived this Wednesday !!! 👻
I’m so excited. 😂 I’ve connected with so many new ppl since posting that I will be trying @curology.
@momskindiary even has almost the exact hormonal acne pattern as me! I can’t wait to try some of what she’s tried to help her skin status. 🤩😍 She’s been using the same #curology formula for the past year, but her dose of #AzelaicAcid was increased to 8% recently—after one year of use.
Test patch done this Thurs. night, Friday results shown after doing my AM routine. ➡️ There are even some CCs present in this patch if you look closely. No side effects! 👏🏼
I didn’t expect any but I had to be sure. As explained, I know my skin does well w/ all of these ingredients so I didn’t have much to worry about. Always, always #testpatch ! I would go on to test multiple times in same place but don’t see myself doing so w/ this... it’s all low strength IMO.
Updates to come 😉
Last night’s routine! I love #sooaecanada masks. I grabbed this Donkey Milk one yesterday because I knew I liked the brand at Walmart and it turned out to be my favourite sheet mask ever. I also smells like a really nice spa so the whole process of it was rather enjoyable. My skin looked so plump and so glowing last night after this routine- to the point where I kept touching my face to feel it. If only I wasn’t still dealing with the remaining party-poopers from my stress breakout because those are all I see when I look into the mirror. I will definitely repeat this routine if I can get my skin cleared up.

Second Cleanse: #Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser

Another weekend where my husband is out of town for work sooooooo Friday will be #somanymasks INCLUDING a new one from LixirSkin (from Victoria Health!!!!) which is an exfoliating soft rubber clay mask - I’m going to do a full review after I’ve used it a few times (especially because I think I did it wrong the first time 😂) but so far so good. I imagine it is a similar consistency to the Sand and Sky mask that is all over my IG ads, but I haven’t tried that one so just a thought from seeing the ads. Also it’s a Tretinoin night so I added in some nourishing steps, including Azelaic Acid and the Glossier Moon Mask since I feel like it seals in all my products so well.
PS if you haven’t gotten on the Victoria Health newletter bandwagon, you are missing out my friend. All I want to do with my life is have coffee with Gill and talk about sunscreen and GuaSha facial massage 😀😀😀 1️⃣ PC Oil Cleanse
2️⃣ LixirSkin Soft Rubber Clay Mask
