Adelaide Wine Markets - December 2018 @adelaide_wine_markets
Well done guys for a very successful evening!👏
It was a great setup, with countless first-class wines from smaller SA wine producers. We met loads of lovely new people & had an absolute ball🍷Cheers!
Giving our vines a little haircut !
Trimming the vines, a process which is essential to the health of our vineyards. When the vines take off, their growth in the canopy can block airflow and breed the perfect moisture conditions for disease.
Given the incredible amount of rain over the weekend , up to 70mm, this process is of particular importance this week. Here is our handy tractor fitted with a tool which opens up the canopy and therefore minimises disease pressure.
@shawwines recently opened their brand spanking new cellar door in the heart of the Canberra wine region. The beautiful design and architecture of the building stands out immediately, surrounded by stunning vineyards and rural estate 🍷 🍃 Inside, the building offers new levels to wine tasting, with a private wine tasting room for group bookings, an open seated tasting room and a relaxing wine lounge for those who just want to sit back and enjoy the view. Only a short 40 minutes from Canberra airport (or 20 minute flight by chopper!) 🚁 #winecraft 📍 Canberra District, NSW
Rockford SVS Hoffman Shiraz 2005
A winery that always reminds me of the festive season.
Seething, surging with swirls of black licorice and black olive, a dichotomy of dark chocolate and sweet cocoa, bound in burnt caramel and brandied Christmas cake. Full bodied, blackberries submerged in milk chocolate, raspberries borne on red rivulets of acidity, into the dusky embrace of charcoal, mocha, and soft, cuddly, tannin.

Nice colour. Bit of perfume...pot pourri? First sip super sweet. Pepper vs spice debate has raired up again. Tongue's a little dry. Holds itself well in the glass. #kilikanoon#aussiewine#redwine#shiraz
A small army of clay fermentation vessels - one of the many experimental tools of winemaker Brad Hickey. The picture above is his humorous vision of wine making - restfully smoking his pipe while it just happens.
Great recommendation from guests that came to make their own sparkling today!
'We had a Fizzology session and Shaun taught us so much...highly recommend everyone doing this...beautiful scenery, fantastic people and lovely wines....cannot recommend this place enough.'
A #sinclairsgully fizzology session is fabulous Christmas gift.. ring Sue up until 24 Dec to arrange a gift certificate. 0409691995
Relaxing with this bottle of Petillant Naturel from Neil Hawkins of The Wine Farm. I used to buy from Neil back when he had a business importing under-the-radar wines and selling them via a mailing list. He was pretty obsessed with Pet Nats then so it’s really interesting to try one made by him. It’s a good one too, as far as Pet Nats go. It’s refreshing but subtle, with a very dry finish. It’s also the least cider-like Pet Nat I’ve had so far, which can only be a good thing as far as I’m concerned. It’s a good one 🍷
